Masking Me

That mask I put up

I’m afraid to take down

I look so uninviting

Without making a sound.

At school it’s hard for me to say

What I think and feel

But at home, when I’m not alone

You wouldn’t believe that it’s real.

They say I’m a quiet person

That I should try out for mime

But look past

The walls built up

And you’ll be surprised at what you find.
