Chapter 8

RECAP:

"We'll have to try." Jazz closed her eyes and started walking. "JAZZ!!" Ryan screamed, scaring her and she let go of the chair. The next thing she saw was Jane and Ryan speeding down the stairs.

"Oh shit!" Jazz screamed. She closed her eyes and pictured her brother and Jane. She wished with all her might that she would make them stop and slowly go down the stairs safely. She repeated this in her head over and over again. She jumped when something touched her shoulder. She opened her eyes to see Ryan staring wide eyed at her. "Ryan!"

"Jazz, I don't know what you did, but thanks." Jazz stared at him. "Come we have to go." He tugged on her arm, forcing her to move.

"Right."

"Get the door." Jazz nodded, and opened the door, grabbing Ryan's keys and locking the door, she chased after her brother to help Jane in the car. Laying Jane on her left side, so she wouldn't lose as much blood. Ryan sat on the floor, holding the wound with a towel. "Well go already!"

"Okay," Jazz floored the car, and took off to the hospital.

"Poor children." A man laughed cruelly. "Oh well, they will soon see what real torture is." He continued to laugh as he watched them speed down the road.

Jazz and Ryan were waiting in the hospital lobby. The hospital looked like an insane asylum, giving Jazz goosebumps. The walls were all white, with blue trim and the chairs were whiter than a ghost. "Ryan, I really don't like this place. It gives me the creeps."

Ryan laughed slightly making Jazz give him a look of pure astonishment, which made him laugh harder. "You have always been scared of hospitals Jazz. But don't worry, just be patient, we need to know how Jane is doing before we can leave. Okay?"

Jazz nodded slowly. "Okay Ryan." She hesitated before she continued, "Ryan, do you think you could call Josh?"

Ryan turned his head slowly, kind of like a betwitched owl. "Why?"

"Okay, so this is probably the worst time to tell you this, but I really like Josh." Jazz suddenly turned redder than an apple.

"Well I know you like Josh, you've known him for how long." Ryan said, totally missing her point.

"No, I mean I like Josh more than a friend." Jazz replied.

Ryan's mouth hung open, "Are you serious?"

"Why don't you sound surprised?" Ryan opened his mouth to answer when Jazz's cellphone started ringing. Everyone in the lobby stared at the two. "Oops, sorry." Jazz got up and walked towards the door to go outside. "Hello?"

"Jazz! Thank God you keep your cell with you."

"Ashlee? Ashlee is this you?" Jazz asked.

"Of course its me. And I want you to come over asap." Ashlee demanded.

Jazz hesitated. "Ash, I can't. Jane is in the hospital, and I can't leave till I know how she is. What happened?"

Ashlee started crying after this question, "Josh, Josh, he broke up with me!"

Jazz smiled, than the smiled disappeared. "What, why?"

"He.. he said he was in love with someone else." Jazz's heart leapt at hearing those words.

"Awe, I am so sorry Ash. I wish I could comfort you, but I have bigger problems."

Ashlee scoffed, "What?! What is more important than your best friend?"

Jazz looked at her phone in disgust. "My family Ashlee. Bye." Jazz shut her phone and screamed.

Jazz slowly walked back into the hospital, a fresh batch of tears clearly on her face. Ryan ran up to her and hugged her tightly. "Still want me to phone Josh?" Jazz nodded. "Alright. What did Ashlee want?"

"Oh, Josh broke up with her." Jazz said, and sat down.

"Oh, I see. Well Jazz, before I phone Josh, there is something I need to tell you about him." Josh said nervously.

Jazz looked at her brother curiously. "Well what is it?"

"Well Jazz, you remember that day when I was mad at him?" Jazz nodded. "Well, he told me that he.."

"Jazz, Ryan!" They both turned their heads to see...

"Mrs. Lamoce?" Jazz asked.

"I am so glad I found you two."

"Jazz who is this?"

"Oh right. Ryan this is Mrs. Lamoce or Megan." Jazz introduced.

"How do you know my first name?" Megan asked.

"After I left your classroom, I stayed by the door for awhile, and heard you and some dude talking, Megan." Jazz smiled proudly.

"Right. Anyway, Trent needs to talk to the two of you right away." Megan urged.

"We aren't leaving till we know if Jane is alright or not." Ryan said.

"Well how long is that going to take?" Megan asked impatiently.

"In your world, don't people ever get hurt?" Jazz asked randomly.

"Nope, they are either alive or dead." Megan bluntly said.

"What in the world are you talking about?" Ryan asked confused.

"No time to explain here, there might be ears listening in." Megan said looking around. "Come, let's just go, they will leave a message at your house."

"Come on Ryan, don't be so scared." Jazz cooed.

"I ain't scared!" Ryan was obviously offended.

"Than let's go." Jazz grabbed his arm and dragged him out the door. His face turning red from all the curious stares coming from everybody in the lobby.

"Boss, I think the children both know about the shrine." An evil young man said.

"Do they know about the chosen one, and what that could do to me?" A aged voice asked.

"No, I don't think so Boss."

"Good, than I want you to kill them before they do. Understood? Maybe this time you won't fail in killing two nosy little kids."

"Yes Boss. I will dispatch those kids."

"You better Rafel, this is your last chance, got it? LAST CHANCE!" He screamed, and than he disappeared from the screen altogether.

Megan drove Ryan's car to the part of town that neither of them ever been to. They drove up to an abandoned warehouse that looked like it has been out of use for years. "This here warehouse is one of the portals to my world."

"Wait, you mean, you live there too?" Megan nodded. "Well, that would explain alot." Jazz mumbled.

"I'm sure it does." Megan said as she walked through a tall silver door.

"Whoa, I ain't going in there." Ryan complained.

Jazz looked at her brother, "You got no choice." Jazz smiled devilishly as she walked through the door.

Ryan looked at the sky, "Why me?" He asked pleadingly.

Megan poked her head through the door, "You coming?"

Ryan nodded his head, "Sadly, yes." He mumbled as walking through the door.

"Ryan, Jazz, so glad you can come." Trent greeted them. He was sitting on a big brown box.

"Thanks Trent, I think." Jazz replied.

"Don't be shy, look around. Get to know the place." Trent invited.

"Why would we need to get to know the place?" Ryan asked.

"No need to explain things now, just go explore. Go be kids." Megan smiled.

"We are not kids. We are alone." Ryan said.

"Ry, stop being so dramatic." Jazz said. She laughed and took off down a path heading to the other side.

"Well she has the spirit." Trent said.

Ryan glared at him, but than bolted after his sister. "Hey Jazz wait up!"

"Trent, we need to get Felix to come. He needs to tell us about Jane." Megan said.

"Yes, we do. But he is very busy lately, and I don't know if he can come."

"I feel so sorry for those kids. They have lost everything, and I don't think it would be a good idea to take them to the funeral. I imagine that He knows about them by now."

"You are right. He does know, but he doesn't know that either of them have powers or anything. His son, has been watching them for the past couple of days." Megan gasped. " I think he will try to kill Ryan and Jazz, tomorrow at the funeral. So if they do decide to go, we have to keep a very good eye on them."

Megan nodded. "Yes, I suppose you are right. Trent, whatever happened to you and NiKeysha?"

Trent looked at her oddly, "What do you mean?"

"I mean, what happened. Why did she come back here?"

"For her grandchildren Megs." Trent replied slowly, and sadly.

"Oh I see." Megan bowed her head, ashamed of bringing up the topic. "Well I'll go see Felix, and ask him if he can come here."

"No, I will. The kids will listen to you more than me. After all, Ryan let you drive his car." Trent winked and he vanished.

Megan sighed. "That doens't mean anything."

"This place is so huge!" Jazz screamed laughing.

"Come on Jazz, let's go. We have searched the whole thing three times already. Don't you have it memorized?" Ryan asked irritated.

"Oh alright." She headed back to the entrance, Ryan behind her. Jazz stopped suddenly.

"Whats wrong now?"

"Nothing. I want you to tell me about Josh now."

"What?" Ryan looked at his sister as if she was crazy.

"In the hospital, you were going to tell me something about Josh. So we ain't leaving till you tell me."

"Oh. That."

"Yes that. So spill." Jazz crossed her arms.

"Fine." Josh sighed, knowing he wasn't going to win. "Josh likes you okay? That's it."

Jazz stared at her brother, motionless. Staring at him with big eyes, "what?"

"Josh likes you. I didn't want to tell you."

"That's why you were so mad at him?" Ryan nodded. "Well that's great. Why did he go out with Ashlee if he likes me?"

"To get closer to you." Ryan replied.

"Oh, makes sense. Alright, let's go back now."

"Finally."

"Jazz, Ryan, there you are. I was begining to worry." Megan gave a sigh of relief.

"Where's Trent?" Jazz asked looking around.

"Oh, he needed to go talk to Felix."

Ryan's hair on the back of his neck started to stick up. "What? You mean, he is gone?" Megan nodded. "You drag us all the way down here, cause Trent wanted to talk to us, and now he is gone!"

"Pretty much. But he told me to tell you."

"Tell us what?" Jazz asked.

"What you guys needed to know since you knew how to talk." Jazz and Ryan looked at eachother confused. "Sit down you two. This will take awhile." They found the nearest boxes and sat down upon them.
