Someone Else's

These things I've held in my hand

Have, like grains of sand, slipped straight through

Only to be caught by someone

With a softer grip than mine.

Her voice not so abrasive,

Her mannerisms more controlled.

And I am left with nothing now,

But a longing for quiet words

And soft blond hair.
