The girl looking out the window

Her hair messy, pulled back into a braid

Her clothes are raggid, and torn

A sure sign her debt was left unpaid

She glances at the blank page

Then turns her stare to the moon

The summer heat has her sweating

There will be no cool breeze soon

She gazes at the moon a momment longer

Wishing that she could be a little stronger

She is dreaming of a fresh start

A new, clean tomorrow

But she is quickly falling apart

He hair falls into her eyes

She could jump if she wanted

But it wouldn't justify her cries

Instead she picks up the pen

And the small pad of paper

She writes a poem of a girl

Whose hair is messy, in a braid

Her clothes are raggid, debt unpaid

Who gazes at the moon

Wishing to break free from her prison soon
