knights and knaves and fighting maidens

marching forward armor-laden

a motley army of next to none

bound to shrink before the day’s done

what is it they battle for

clothed in song and battle lore?

what’s their cause, and what’s their course?

why stand before that frightening force?

these knights and knaves and brave, strong maidens

their hearts by fear no longer laden

for as friends and partners they are one

and by that alone, their battle’s won
