Secret # 1
Sometimes I’ll look cold just so you’ll hold me.
The girl sat on the bench hesitantly waiting for her friends to come. They probably already left. I mean, they always end up ditching me anyway. She breathed in and out, letting the cold ball of air escape her mouth.
She pulled her sleeves over her hands as she noticed and heard the shuffling of feet behind her. The girl turned around to see his head covered with that familiar black beanie hat. He took a seat next to her on the bench as she asked, “What are you doing here?”
“I should be asking you the same question.” He said incredulously. She looked up at him and saw his raised eyebrow. “My friends decided to ditch me…” She muttered rubbing her arms up and down.
“Again?” He asked looking at her seriously. She nodded, “Yeah.”
“Some friends you’ve got there.” He said sarcastically leaning back on the bench. “…Shut up.” She glared at him, as he smirked. “And, you? Why are you here?” She asked him.
“Oh…Just chilling.” He said as a gust of wind blew. She rubbed her arms up and down, “Oh, how coincidental.” She rolled her eyes.
The boy looked back at the girl as she looked the opposite way. He extended his arm over her shoulder and brought her closer towards him. She looked up at him and raised her eyebrow.
“You could catch a cold. You’re so stupid to not have a jacket.” He whispered, huffs of cold air came out of his mouth. She lay her head on his arm, smiling.
Secret # 2
She needs to hear that she’s beautiful.
The guy watched as the girl sat down on the bench, in the pouring rain. He put an umbrella over his head and slowly walked towards her. She looked up, her nose red and her mascara running down her face.
“What’s the matter?” The boy asked, putting the umbrella over her head. “Nothing…” She whispered. The boy kneeled down so that he was at her eye level. He put his hand on her chin, wiping away the mascara.
“Come on. If nothing was the matter then why would you be standing out in the rain?” He asked sympathetically.
“It doesn’t matter. Nobody likes me, he doesn’t like me. You know what he said? He told my best friend that he wouldn’t go out with me ‘because I’m ugly’. It just doesn’t matter anymore…” She quietly said, rubbing at her eyes.
“What…he’s such an asshole.”
“No he’s not…it’s the truth…” She trailed off.
He raised her face so that she was looking at him, “Listen to me, you are not ugly. Nor will you ever be. You are the most beautiful girl I’ve ever met.” He looked at her seriously with a smile on his face.
Secret # 3
Life was so much easier when boys had cooties.
“Cooties?” He smirked at her, letting his hands hold him up. “Yes, cooties.” She scrunched up her face. “But I thought I gave you the cootie shot.” He grinned at her flushed face.
“No.” She stuck her tongue out at him. He smiled and took her hand, “Then I’ll give it to you now.” –He traced a circle on her hand slowly with his index finger- “Circle, Circle, Dot, Dot. Now you’ve got your cootie shot.” He smirked, kissing her hand slightly, making her shudder at the touch. Her hand felt tingly as she took it away.
“Now can I kiss you?” He smirked as she blushed. “No!” She said backing up a bit. Which did not work, considering he came closer. “Well, to bad,”-he whispered practically leaning on her-“I’m going to anyways.” He leaned forward catching her bottom lip in between his, kissing her softly.
Her lips were tingling as he pulled away. “Cooties…” She looked at him disgustingly. He just smiled at her and kissed her again.
Secret # 4
I’d rather argue with you then kiss someone else.
The guy took his eyes off his shoes and looked up focusing his eyes on her face, “Why do you do that?”
“Do what?” She spat at him.
“THAT! Why don’t you understand?”
“Understand what? That you just like sticking your fucking tongue down every girl’s throat? Or that you just like fighting with me? Huh? Which one is it? Oh wait don’t tell me it’s both.” She said, tears forcing its way out of her eyes.
“NO! Look, you just don’t get it okay. I don’t stick my tongue down every girl’s throat.”
“What about her?”
“SHE KISSED ME! Don’t you understand that I like you! Not her, not anybody but you. Why the hell do you think I’m here?”
“To fight with me more.”
“Look…can’t you understand. I want to be with you.”
“Just like you… to pull some bull out of air.”
“You know what, shut the hell up. Just understand that…I need to be with you. It just doesn’t feel right without you. I’d rather be up here fighting with you then fucking any girl on campus. Just seeing your face or that god damn smile, that’s all I want…that’s all I need.” He said clenching his fist.
Secret # 5
It’s every girl’s dream to have a guy call her at 3am to say I love you.
“I’m about to hit the hay. I mean it’s already 1am.” The girl said to her brother’s best friend, the guy sitting on the couch. He grinned, “Alrighty then.”
The girl waved at the guy and headed upstairs collapsing on her bed. She listened to the sound of her rain, falling asleep.
Ring
Ring
“What…”The girl groaned waking up to her cell phone ringing. She glanced up at the cell phone and it read Him.
“Hello…?” She yawned.
“Hey…”
“Why are you calling this freaking late?” She asked bitterly, showing she wanted to sleep.
“Look outside.” He said. She got up and yawned, she looked out her window and saw him standing in the rain.
“What are you doing?” She asked looking at him. She smiled into the phone as she saw him point at himself. He pointed at himself, then made a heart shape with his hands, and finally pointed at her window.
“What?” She grinned into the phone.
“I love you. Can’t you understand, girl?” He said jokingly. She smiled once more, “Say that again? I can’t here you through the rain.”
“I Love You.”
“So you woke me up at 3am to say that?” She smirked tracing her fingers on the window.
“Yeah, because as I say again. I love you. I forgot to say it before you left to go to sleep,” He grinned.
Secret # 6
Smiles and make up cover up so much these days.
The girl sat on her bed, tears coming from her eyes. “You bitch, where’s my dinner?” Her drunken father bust through the room.
“You came home late, and I threw it out.” Slap.
“WHAT? You’re supposed to fucking cook me dinner every night. YOU KNOW THAT!” He slapped her making her hit the ground, kicking her down.
“I kno-ow. I’m s-sorry.” She winced as he kicked her. “Fucking bitch.” He kicked her one last time before leaving the room. She sat on the bed letting one or two tears fall from her eyes and went to bed, not bothering to treat her bruises or cut on her cheek.
The next morning she woke up putting make up on her face, and leaving before her dad woke up. She had the same smile as she passed by her friends.
“Hey!” They said as she waved back. She smiled as she over heard there talks.
“She’s so perfect.”
“I know, and she’s not a bitch about it either.”
“Yeah, She’s really nice.”
“I wish I was just like her. Smarts, looks, personality she’s got it all.” They smiled at her. She walked towards her locker putting her books back as the bell rung.
“Don’t you ever get tired?” the boy leaned against the locker. The girl looked at him skeptically.
“What?”
“Don’t you ever get tired of doing that?” He asked pointing at her face. “What?” she asked taking his hand away.
“Faking that god damn smile.” He said looking at the ground. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” She raised an eyebrow at him.
“Look, I may not be one of your so called ‘best friends’ but honestly, I really want to know what’s up.”
“Nothing,” She just smiled at him. He widened her eyes at her, “Promise?”
“Yeah.” She smiled once more, closing her locker door, leaving for the bathroom.
Secret # 7
I talked louder and laughed harder just to get you to look my way.
The girl took a glance at the boy listening to his iPod at the table from the corner of her eye.
“So honestly, we can say that he is the cutest guy here.” Her friend piped up. She grinned, “YEAH I BET HE IS!”
She took another glance at him. Nothing.
“Why are you talking so loud?” She asked weirdly.
“I’M NOT! THAT IS JUST SO FUNNY GUYS!” She grinned taking a glance at him, which made him glance back.
“Oh, interesting.” Her friend smiled at her. The girl started laughing loudly as she smiled, and saw the guy smirk.
“He’s looking at you, you can stop.” She whispered from the back of her hand. The girl stopped and giggled, “Geez, finally. I didn’t think I’d need to try so hard.”
They laughed at each other as the boy came over. “Hey.” He smiled at the girl.
“Hey, what’re you listening too?” She smiled. “Nothing, would you like to join me for lunch?” He smirked.
“Sure…I guess I have time.” She grinned at her friend.
