In the Nighttime
By the daytime, she sings songs that enchant you
And make you believe she's everybody's little girl
And by the daytime, she dances and smiles
And makes everybody feel on top of the world
But in the nighttime, she speaks
In the nighttime, she cries
Things that you could never believe
Would be her lullaby
In the nighttime, she dreams things
That ought not to be dreamed
By such innocence
But was she the little girl she seemed?
By the daytime, she'll laugh and play
And she'll hope, oh, she'll believe
Every word every one of you say
And she seemed so innocent, so naive
But in the nighttime, she speaks
In the nighttime, she cries
Things that you could never believe
Would be her lullaby
In the nighttime, she dreams things
That ought not to be dreamed
By such innocence
But was she the little girl she seemed?
