Roadsides

By Lanette

Endless paths on roadsides

Keep calling, calling out

“Wander, wander, down us

And see what we’re about”

Looking for your homestead

To rest your weary head

“Sorry, sorry, sorry

But I must be off to bed”

Keeping up your desperate pace

With sure but tired strides

How much, how much farther

Does your faithful home reside?

The paths keep saying wander

It echoes in your brain

You’re tired, tired, tired

Of this constant bold refrain

You turn to face the roadsides

With anger on your face

“Stop it, stop it, stop it, roads

And learned to see your place”

The pathways all grow silent

And call out loud no more

They’re sulking, sulking, sulking

‘Cause your life is such a bore

Your finally arrive there

And quickly get to bed

Time passes, passes, passes

‘Til your soul is almost dead

You never veered off trudging

To work and back to home

Your dying, dying, dying

Because you never roamed

You’re looking at the roadsides

They’re looking back at you

They’ve waited, waited, waited

And the choice is up to you

You pick a random pathway

That doesn’t seem to end

You wander, wander, wander

And don’t look back again

Tell me what you think, please! Thanks!
