Ecstasy

By: Jessica

Drowning in a fever, drowning in a game

Waves of color, explosions of light all dancing deranged

Me in the eyes of the night

Extremes of darkness, complete to black

Extremes of light, too bright for sight

Swimming in a fever, where here there lies no pain

I cant remember stumbling, here there is no shame

The pounding, beating, rhythmic sound

No words or screams, all slurred in a background

No color left, no shame to ensue

No dancing lights and fevered plights

To rescue the minds dancing delirium

No stars to shine, no laughs to mind

No dancing shifting bodies, splurged together

In a mass of homesick stupor

You drowned me in a fever, dancing red and blue

You took away the pain shame

Threw them beyond the roof

Scraped the memories and drank my sanity

Like a smoldering, sweet brew

You left me in delirium, shamelessly addicted to you

Hidden in a vial, beneath the loose floor tile

To save the mind of thought and circumstance

So again I can dance in fevered red and blue

Now the intoxication over

And all that’s left is red

The blue is gone and the chill is dawning

Now sanity rears its ugly head

The red has faded, leaving me alone,

Wandering aimlessly in this corridor from home

But here no one sees me, they don’t even turn a head

Yet still my picture remains here,

Burned inside their heads

A bullet lays now empty, a gun in your hand

Your eyes grow unseeing

The shell is in your head

Shot yourself in fevered blame

Lost to the colors dancing blue and red

To join me now in hell you might

Damned to walk inside your head

Both now lost to fevered red

And dancing in mindless shame

Yet who can any but blame

But,

Laing hidden

In a vial

Beneath the loose floortile.
