You ever hear someone say something so stupid that you just want to smack them? I go to a public high school so I’m constantly jerking back my hand. Anyways today I was in the library attempting to remember the cosine law in order to complete my homework when along come two girls, maybe three years younger than me. One of them picks up a book. Do you remember that movie with Shane West and Mandy Moore ‘A Walk to Remember’? It was a book originally, I know this, and any normal, sane person who saw a book with this title would probably correctly determine this. But no, what does this ninny say “ Hey, look at this, this book used to a movie”. As though the book was based on the movie and not the other way around.

This is what I am surrounded by. I can accept the ignorance of my peers (my friends excluded), but this. This is not something I usually deal with. I can deal with teenagers who don’t know who the janjaweed are, or what the exact use of Japanese comfort battalions in World War Two, or even what AIDS really is. But this isn’t even current events or history. It doesn’t involve politics, or war. No, this was pop culture, it’s a fucking trivia question “What book was the movie ‘A Walk to Remember’ based on?”. This makes me so mad. The fact that my peers are so unenlightened drives me insane. I guess if ignorance is bliss it explains why my peers are always fucking smiling on the day of suicide bombings. Maybe I am being to hard on them, but I just want them to know the truth, to realise that their troubles are simple. Whatever my hand is itching to smack the people on television at the moment so goodbye, good luck, and buy a fucking newspaper.
