Mew woke up coughing and spitting water out of her lungs. 'Bloody hell?' She hissed when she opened her eyes to blinding light. She blinked a couple of times in attempt to clear her vision. Finally becoming completely conscious, she did what instinct told her to do, she screamed bloody murder.
A... being? Stood over her holding a spear. It's eerily bright colored eyes were tinged red and piercings were littered throughout it's face. It, now figured to be he, since it was only wearing a grass skirt was seemingly ignoring Mew's screaming and inspecting her.
He turned and grunted to someone unseen before clapping his hand over Mew's mouth. Mew. Was. Disgusted. She was led/dragged by the neck of her shirt into a dark hut where many women resided. He dropped her on the floor before signaling rapidly to one of the women and leaving. Mew stared in shock at the people before her, and scooted frantically away from them. 'Where the hell am I?'
"Mew?" a voice called from behind the village women; who were now cornering her. "Mew is that you?"
"Creeing?" she asked quietly, her voice leaving her. She still scooted farther away from the still approaching women.
"Mew!" the voice seemed relieved. "Let them take you. They're not going to hurt us... at least they haven't yet." The village women stopped and seemed to try and listen to the conversation between the two friends.
"O-okay." Mew stuttered before standing up and walking slowly toward the women. One of them reached out, like lightning, and grabbed her wrist. Mew resisted the strong urge to pull away from the cold, bony fingers of the native. They were all, she noticed as she looked around, very skinny, short, and bony people. Pitch black skin was pulled tightly, almost uncomfortably, over raw bone and muscle.
"Mew?" a softer voice called out, as she was still being led by the extremely skinny, extremely strong woman deeper into the hut. Finally they stopped at a door where English utterances were heard inside.
Roughly, the woman shoved Mew into the dark room and she fell over someone who muttered 'Ow.' "Sorry." she muttered back before crawling into an unoccupied spot. Eyes, at long last, adjusted to the darkness and she called once more for her adopted sisters and friends. "Creeing? Mila? Savvie?"
"Yo." a voice called back happily from her right. She vaguely reached out in that direction and a hand grabbed out at her. She was about to scream when a voice called out, "It's okay, it's me."
"Mila?"
"Yeah."
"Good."
"Hmm?"
"You guys are okay!"
"For the most part. I was on watch for you, Savvie's still K.O, and Creeing's cussing like there's no tomorrow." Mila informed while guiding her blindly into the corner. Suddenly she stopped and Mew reached out into the darkness of the corner, and came in contact with flesh.
"Mew?"
"Yes. Creeing?"
"Yeah. Your hand is on my eye."
"Whoops." Mew blushed slightly and moved her hand. "Where can I sit without hurting anyone?" There was slight shuffling and a hand pulled her down onto the dirt floor of the hut.
"At least everyone's here." Creeing sighed after a moment of silence.
“But Savvie's still K.O." Mila said in an equal fashion. "The only reason they didn't throw her back into the sea, after her asthma attack, is because I refused to let her go."
"Is she okay?" Mew looked up in alarm.
"Yeah. She's fine. Luckily, she had her inhaler on her."
"That's good." A pregnant pause followed.
"Ya know, it really sucks when people talk about you like you're not even there..." A voice groaned near them.
"SAVVIE!" they shouted happily in a whisper.
"What's up my home skillet chicken biscuit drowned in gravy and buttered to the extreme?"
"What...?"
"Savvie?"
"See, this is what those damn drugs do to you!"
Savvie laughed lightly while sitting up. "Just messin' with y'all. What happened?"
"I think we were abducted by these natives..." a voice called from another corner. The women looked up to realize that they were not alone. Other passengers on the ship surrounded them, all of them looked shaken up.
"But... why? Why would they want us?" Another random voice asked in the darkness.
"I think they only want some of us." The voice that spoke was gruff and hardened. "I think they want to sacrifice certain people. While I've never been on tis island in particular, surrounding islands in these waters are known to." the voice turned to the corner where the four women resided. "I think they want one of you to be sacrificed. The one who didn't scream when she awoke."
Savvie, Mila, and Creeing turned to look at each other. None of them had screamed when awoken. Savvie had been thrown into her attack, Creeing had throughly cussed her dude out, and Mila had been in too much shock and too preoccupied in keeping Savvie alive to scream. They gulped.
"They don't want the women who had the asthma attack..." another voice, one sly and cunning, seemed to float around the room. "They believe her cursed... Nobody wants a cursed sacrifice."
“Well we knew she was cursed for awhile now..." Creeing muttered under her breath.
WHAM
"Owwie!" she moaned pathetically.
"They kept pointing to the one who was holding her though..." the voice of the cabin boy floated meekly. "I think they want her..."
"Mila?" Mew quietly asked the now shaking woman. "Mila, it's okay, We won't let them sacrifice you..."
"Ha!" the gruff, burly voice barked in laughter. "I'd like to see you try. Once, you're chosen your fate is sealed."
Suddenly the hut flap flew back, and the women who had thrown Mew in there with them was back. She squinted her eyes in the dim light before pointing straight at the near hyperventilating Mila. She made a weird, happy sound from the back of her throat before moving forward as someone else held the flap open.
Creeing, Savvie, and Mew moved to hide their friend, so the woman hissed before pulling out a crude dagger and jabbing it toward them while muttering something unintelligible. They glared back with at much force as they could muster and moved closer together.
"Guys... Don't." Mila's voice was tight as she stood up. "Your lives are not worth just my own. I will just go peacefully. I think if I go... they will set you free." She mustered up a brave smile. "Maybe it is time..."
"NO!" they yelled at her, attempting to get her to sit back down. "Have you lost it!?! You can't just give up your life!"
She glared down at them. "If it's for your life, than I can and I will." She stepped over them and gave her arm to the woman, who was now curiously watching their exchange. Seeing her chance she roughly grabbed Mila away and pulled her toward the open doorway. "Goodbye my sisters. Live long with no regrets." she smiled sadly at them, and then... she was gone from sight.
