Needle and Thread

Pursed lips, strained eyes,
Sweat drips down in beads,
Fingers red and calloused.
Yet again, the thread misses the
Hole in the shining needle.
Saddened sighs escape silently.
Patience calms shaking hands
That would otherwise fling
The failure across the room.
Licked again, the string heads
Toward the mocking needle.
