The Hellish
I heave open the heavy gates
And stand like an ant to watch
The wall of wailing water;
Forty days and forty nights
Of other people’s tears.
As it comes destructively towards me,
The Flood of what I cannot handle,
It travels with such speed, such
Pain, such terror in its grasps,
And as it comes to little me,
It tips, turns, puts its tumultuous
Weight on me.
A weight I cannot bear,
I drown,
I fall away to sea.
X
I march through oblivion’s pain,
I turn with whitened widened eyes
To stare, and gasp with open mouth,
You now see what I saw then,
What they are and what they do.
If I have entered hell again,
Then who are these, the hellish?
