Hullo, This is a preview of a story that I am considering writing. I know the kids history, so if you like the idea, please review and let me know.

Agent XIII

The boy was no more than fifteen years of age. He had mirthless grey eyes and ruffled black hair. His face was handsome and sharp, every feature shaped perfectly. He was tall, with wide shoulders and was well built. He flexed his fingers as he turned into the alley. He wore a black wool coat with a collar and inside pockets along with a pair of jeans and a white T-shirt. His name was David Tanner.

The alley he had just walked into was usually home to the homeless, but today they had scattered. The cause was a tall full-grown man. His head was shaved and he wore a neat black and white suit, as though he were at a posh party. His shoulders were wide and beneath all the official clothing was a well-muscled chest and arms. His name was Jack Langley.

David walked down the alley and stopped about five strides from the large intimidating man.

David grinned and chuckled. “You know, it has been a lot of laughs hunting you. You have proved very illusive. But the organisation is really annoyed that I haven’t brought you in yet. They’re even considering demoting me, even though you can’t go much lower than thirteen. Oh well, if you get out of gaol, maybe you’ll drop by and say g’day. That’s a big ‘if’ though.”

Jack smiled quite maliciously. “You really think you have me beat.”

David scoffed. “Well, yeah.”

Jack chuckled. “Remember that little fiasco on the harbor bridge?”

David’s smile slowly disappeared as he nodded.

“Well…” continued Jack, “… I have more back up.”

Just then seven men appeared, two at Jacks side and three behind David. The two at Jack’s side had been hiding in the shadows the whole time and the three behind David had come out of doors either side of the alley.

Jack grinned. “You can’t beat me, you’re just a kid.”

David grinned back. He then sprung into action. He pulled a colt revolver loaded with eight bullets from his left inside pocket and spun around, grabbing one of the men by the neck. He used this man as leverage to launch himself off of the ground to kick another of the men, with both of his feet, in the face. He landed on the ground and elbowed the man he had used as leverage in the spine, temporarily paralyzing him. The third man attempted to pull a Sig Sauer from his jacket pocket, but David leapt forward and brought his knee up and into the man’s stomach. He spun the man around to face his peers and boss as all three pulled Sig Sauers out and fired. Each man fired four times and each bullet hit with deadly accuracy. Luckily for both David and the man he was using as a shield, the man was wearing a bulletproof vest. The bullets thumped and pounded into the human shield. When the firing stopped, David dropped the man and sprang into the action. He did an impressive running jump kick into the chest of the man on Jack’s right. The man fell with a thump and David regained himself. The other bodyguard came forward, menacingly. David turned in time to catch the wrist of a flying fist. He yanked the man towards him and elbowed him in the face. The man stumbled backwards a step. David came forward and brought a fist around to strike the man in the temple. The man blocked it with an arm. David thought at the speed of light and holstered his revolver. He brought that fist around, which was also blocked. The man grinned and snatched both of David’s wrists in his large and very strong hands.

David thought quicker.

He jumped off of the ground, bringing his feet up and into the man’s face. He back flipped off of his now bleeding face and landed on his feet. The man was still standing, so David struck him twice in the stomach and twice across the face. He brought his right arm and smacked him in the face and then brought the elbow back into the man’s face.

The man went down with a thump.

A clap of thunder marked the arrival of rain.

Jack looked down at his felled bodyguards and then up to David. The rain trickled down David’s face. His evil scowl made him all the more terrifying.

Jack stuttered. “H… h… how did you do that?”

David smiled. “I’m a highly trained kid.” He held out a pair of handcuffs. “Are you ready to come quietly?”

Jack scowled and knocked the cuffs from David’s hand. He brought a knee up and kicked David in the stomach, then turned tail and ran.

David groaned. “I hate it when they do that.” He got to his feet and pounded after Jack, pulling out his revolver. His jacket whipped out behind him, as did Jack’s.

He fired a single bullet, which sped through the rain, speeding through drops of rain and found its mark in Jacks left leg. It buried itself deep in his leg.

Jack cried out in pain and fell. He had fallen outside a very posh restaurant. David ran up to Jack, cuffing him. When some of the diners objected, David flashed his badge and gun. They shut up and went about their business, even though all but one of them didn’t believe him.

David dragged Jack to his feet. “Well, time to go to HQ. I have spent two months chasing you, and it ended by me shooting you in front of a restaurant. Once again, if they could demote me they would. Number Twelve isn’t going to let me live this down for a week.”

Number Twelve was watching as David said this. He watched as David pushed Jack into an agency car and walked off.

David watched as the agency car left. He smiled and lit a celebratory cigarette.

His name was David Tanner and he was Agent XIII.
