The inspiration for this poem was a really crazy dream I had. This is only a part of the dream. I am working on the rest. So onto the poem!

Embrace

I watched as you disappeared

Into your inner darkness

I thought you said my light would protect you

I watched as you drowned

In your river of despair

I felt my heart breaking

Because I could do nothing to save you

My friends can only watch as the light I once was dims

I can feel myself fading

I watch as my world slowly disappears

I feel the water as it covers me

I just let myself go

Relaxing into the cold embrace

But someone has grabbed me

And pulled me from the water's embrace

I fight against the person's hold

But it only tightens

I begin to cry

I just wanted to be with you again

The person wipes my tears away and says everything is okay

I freeze at the voice

I turn and see the face of the one I so badly wanted to see

But before I can say anything

My world turns to black
