Is it You?
Is it you?
I inhale deeply and I can almost smell anticipation
Like a stinging scent climbing rapidly, wrapping itself around my heart,
and I jump with a start.
He’s riding his bike (you are athletic)
You can tell he’s determined (focused and articulate like you)
Pedaling fiercely as if he’s going to important places (I know you are)
I’m trying to walk delicately and look half pretty in a flowy periwinkle dress,
Because it reminds me of your eyes, the bluest I’ve ever seen.
I am tripping. Feeling uncontrollable, a pulsing body of energy, sparking,
Going to get you to STOP
He pulls off his shades…
Revealing chestnut irises that don’t compare to yours.
I drop. Release. Exhale.
Like a stone, singing to the bottom of the sea,
blackness enveloping me
and I’m dark
again.
Is it you?
I inhale gradually and I taste salt
Numbing my tongue but not anything else,
and I turn slowly.
He’s emerging from the corner, my eyes are clamped (stuck, in awe of you)
Jogging carelessly, enjoying the wind as a shield (defending you from pirates)
Perfect crimson lips sucking in the same air as me (your words linger)
I am so sure this time, I want to call out and grab your attention,
Steal it from the landscape although I know she is spectacularly gorgeous, unlike me.
I am ready. My heart lodged in my throat, breaking,
"WAIT! HEY--"
“Hi?”
His voice is not as enchanting as yours that can persuade the world of anything.
I blush intensely and turn on my heel
I don’t think I can ever feel this alone. Just one girl
Trying to find one guy
But she is a measly speck
one blue dot amidst a sky
and she is nothing,
again
so she sprints to leave the world behind
away from her embarrassing encounters
and she runs to the shore
where hope can’t exist anymore
and she closes her eyes
to wish away a heartfelt pang…
BANG
A body slams into her and
She tumbles in the sand,
His laugh is familiar, he reaches down his hand
Such a strange journey, she never knew,
But at long last, she touches you.
--For someone who made my days brighter--
