It is August 29th, 2009. It has been one year since Monica Scott met Gerard Hammond. They were two normal people, in college with their lives ahead of them. Now, they are lying dead on the bedroom floor of Gerard’s father Gregory’s house.

The gun sits in between them. Gerard’s finger stays coldly on the trigger. It isn’t a stretch of the imagination to figure out who killed whom. Monica’s soft, deep brown hair is pushed back from her face. Someone had the decency to brush it off her before she expired. How thoughtful. The beige carpet remains tainted from the blood. What a scene to behold. The bed is unmade, the room unkempt. Clothing, strewn across the floor, hinting at the evening’s actions.

In order to make this more understandable, let’s start where it all began. One year ago, August 29th, 2008. At CCC, California Community College in Redding, two nineteen year olds first laid eyes on one another. This event cascaded into a torrid relationship and affair. All started from the dropping of a book.
