Prologue

The Skin You're In

A young man, laid sprawled on his back, raven black hair stuck to his face, from the sweat pouring from his forehead. He was only sixteen, manic depressant, clearly bipolar, and now bleeding from his wrists on the floor of his room, smiling softly he looked around dazed and his almost glowing dark green eyes fell on a pair of legs that were standing at his side. His eyes trailed up to see a man in a business suit looking down at him.

The man's face was pale, his eyes golden and burning. A smile fell over his face. "Lets make a deal."

A pair of shining honey brown eyes watched the soccer ball move left then right. It was kicked hard and was sent into the air towards the opposing teams goal. This was his chance for glory, the pride that surged through his veins made him charge and he threw his body back, his right foot flew into the air and smacked the ball hitting the net hard. But something went wrong, as he landed face first on the ground he felt something snap, and the skin around his throat tore as he felt his spine crash into the ground. Screaming could be heard, his mother rushed to him screaming and crying.

But his focus was on a black clad ominous figure that was standing in his view. "You dont have to die." it said.

Shots rang out into the night, one young man scrambled to his feet and pulled the trigger, hitting its target from across the street. Another shot rang out. But he didn't cock his gun or fire. Feeling instant pressure hit his back travel through his chest and out the other side. Dropping his gun he fell to his knees like they were lead. So this is what it felt like.

Face hitting the cold concrete sidewalk he looked in anger as the man he shot got up and limped away with the help of his assailant. The feeling of darkness and death washed over him as he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Do you want the revenge you seek?" it asked.

He laid there, there wasn't anything he could do, he was wasting away, he had contracted a food-borne illness and he didn't want to do anything about it. He was terrified of the hospital, around all of the death and sickness sent him into shock. His body shook as he turned to his side and threw up again, he was amazed he still had things to throw up, no doubt it was the lining of his stomach if not parts of other organs. Becoming instantly cold again; he continued to shake violently, eyes sunken in, their gray color was dimming slowly.

"What a sluggard. You could have lived, and still can if you wanna take over something." he turned to see a dark clad person looking over him.

The burglar was quick, but not quiet. He had woken one of the family, no matter he had a gun. When the light came on he saw the horror struck face of a young boy as he pulled the trigger. The boy fell to the stairs and slid down bleeding from his left eye. He had just came down because he heard a sound, now he could hear someone rushing out the front door, hearing it slam. His parents were out of town, and all of the maids and workers went home for the night. He laid alone in excruciating pain, he would bleed to death within an hour.

A dark face came into his view, it was strangely interesting to him how a person could look almost like a snake. "It's your time, but we can always change that."

There was banging at his door, the cops were coming, quickly he scrambled to get away, knocking glass tubes and burners all around. Something caught fire and he could smell it. He turned and put his foot forward, crushing broken glass he collapsed and fell against a gasoline can, this was a garage, his girlfriend would kill him if he moved the meth lab into the house. Gasoline inched its way towards the burning and fire as he reached up towards a black clad figure that stood above him.

"You can always have a second chance at a new life." it said. "and the cost isn't that steep."

Heaven cried and screamed as her mother fell to the ground, pushing and clawing her way forward she grappled onto her mother and tried to wake her up. She felt a hand reach towards her face as she was grabbed suddenly around the shoulder and pulled back away from her mother. She screamed and fought as the paramedics took her mother away in a black bag.
