In the kitchen

I have dropped a package of ho-hos

on the ground.

I pause, glance at them

and decide that I will come back later to pick them up.

I am much too busy right now.

I forget for a while,

and when I remember

I go back to the kitchen.

To the space between

the fridge and the counter.

But they gone.

Someone had already been here and picked it up for me.

It makes me wonder,

just how much have I forgotten,

--and left;

that someone else had come and cleaned up for me.
