Eulogy (Part 1)

My mind cries out,

Beating to be set free.

Tears run freely from my eyes.

Pain, deep, unending, unyielding pain.

I do not know how to stop it.

Worse, I do not know

How to help those I care most about.

The words do not flow,

It is torture to pull them from my mind.

The only words that form,

Slowly, painfully, eternally,

“He’s dead.”

They pour forth from my lips,

My words trying to reassure my heart,

Prove the cold steel truth to my mind.

Irony after cruel irony comes forth,

Keep coming long after it occurs.

The tears keep coming from inside us.

We mourn as one, silently.

We are together,

But each in their own separate grief

A/N: Our beloved English teacher died this morning, 6/8/07, of a massive heart attack while running. He died doing something he loved. This is the first of many of my gifts back to him, sadly, too little, too late.
