I been brain-fired - electrified
Infected and injectified
Vivisectified a
nd fed pesticide!
My face is all cut-up
Cuz my radar's all shot-up
Nurse! I need a checkup from the neck-up
I'm batty...

“What in the name of God are you watching?”

I turned my eyes from the rapping cartoon bat to the confused, yet amused face of my roommate, her own eyes glued to the television. “Movie.”

“That’s FernGully, isn’t it,” she said, her attention still on the TV. “God, I haven’t watched this since I was, like, seven.”

“Yeah,” I laughed, turning back to the movie. “Robin Williams is a cut up. But you know what?”

She sat on the arm of my chair and grabbed a handful of popcorn from my bowl. “The animation style is archaic? The voice acting is laughable? Pips and Zak were totally gay for each other?”

I almost snorted my Cherry Coke. “No, you incorrigible yaoi fangirl…” I couldn’t really say much, considering I was pretty much the same; the only difference was the fandoms. “No,” I wiped the soda from the corner of my mouth and sighed. “This entire movie is one huge anti-logging and pollution commercial. It’s just a gigantic political plot that’s thinly veiled as a kiddy movie.”

“God, that’s sad,” she replied. “And what’s worse is that we’re at the age that we can see it. What happened to the day when we could sit down and just enjoy a damn movie?”

“I believe Life is what happened,” I said with a roll of my eyes. “This is just how jaded our generation has become. We find the hidden agendas behind every movie without even trying.”

“Too right.”

I flipped the remote in my hand and changed the channel to see a rather busty woman wearing a glorified bathing suit dancing up against a tattooed, smooth-talking man. I pointed to the screen lazily. “What do you thing the hidden meaning behind this is?”

“It’s obviously a none too subtle way of convincing young girls that if you look pretty enough and have no morals whatsoever, you can make it big in the world,” she answered after a moment.

I nodded with a sigh. “And the sad part is that we can see it.”

“Even worse is that the younger generations can’t.”

“Just like we couldn’t.”

So hear my batty words
And exercise a little prudence
When dealing with
Humans

Was watching FernGully and had a revelation. This is what came of it. If this belongs on FanFiction instead, please tell me so.

I don't own the Batty Rap.

I hope I don't offend anyone.
