Behind The Mask
Behind the mask,
There is a girl,
Torn and ripped,
Ugly and disturbed.
On the outside,
She is beautiful.
Her brown hair shines,
Around her porcelain face.
Her laughter can fool anyone,
Who sees the shallow mask,
That rests upon her face,
Concealing a painful truth.
Under the clothes,
There is a girl,
Cut and scarred,
Ashamed and hurt.
On the outside,
She looks so cheery.
Her smile is so bright,
Plastered on her porcelain face.
Her smile deceives anyone,
Who dares to look her way.
No one cares to notice,
On the inside she is bleeding.
Behind the eyes,
There is a girl,
Shattered and broken,
Empty and hollow.
On the outside,
She seems so alive.
Her green eyes sparkle,
In the afternoon sun.
These eyes are so misleading,
To anyone who looks at them.
No one can see the darkness,
So well hidden behind them.
Under her skin,
There sits a bullet.
Tiny and bloody,
Deadly and invisible.
On the outside,
She looks so different.
Scars are re-opened,
Put on display and bleeding.
She fooled everyone, even herself.
These problems could have seen an end,
And she would no longer need to hide,
Behind the porcelain and lies.
