A Love Poem…About Punctuation!

I love you (period)

Do you love me (question mark)

Oh, tell me (exclamation point)

Please, please, please (elipses)

I wanna hold you,

I wanna hold you in

(parentheses)

I (apostrophe) d

Like to give up everything for thee.

No hyphens could divide us,

We are one.

When you come near me (comma)

My heart skips a beat (comma)

And your punctuation turns me on.

“Roses are red and violets are blue.”

I end that quote so I can think of you.

Oh, I wanna hold you,

I wanna hold you in

(parentheses)

Your semicolon winks,

Your timid, tilde smile.

I want to hold your hand,

If only for a while.

Arms entwined like ampersands,

In parentheses’ embrace.

Tears of love and happiness

Slide like commas down your face,

And I wanna hold you,

I wanna hold you in…

(parentheses)

(parentheses)

I wanna hold you in

(parentheses)
