The dreamer’s always dreaming
In the darkness of the night
The sleeper’s always sleeping
Under blankets soft and light
The wisher’s always wishing
For the dream that never comes

But in the evening when we’re dreaming
All these victories are won

The poor without a shelter
A lost child gives a cry
Politicians argue stocks and bonds
While in foreign countries soldiers die
The terrorist use terror
To raise our throbbing fears

But in the evening when we’re dreaming
Loved ones dry our gushing tears

Mixed and lost confusion
Of dear adolescent love
Reports, exams and homework
Our job is never done
But then our teacher passes
And all else fades within this pain

But in the evening when we’re dreaming
STILL nothing feels the same

A life was stolen from us
The life of one we held so dear
Provided help and inspiration
For any who were near
Now everything feels vacant
And I fear we lost this fight

But in the evening when we’re dreaming
STILL nothing feels quite right
