Tonight

It is now in the middle of the night
Thin pink clouds are hanging low
In the dark purple sky
Like the wooden swings we played with everyday
When we were young

Do you still remember?
Come give me a gentle push
And send me closer to the sun
Where are you now?
Would you still stand behind me tonight?

It is now late in the night
The moon has risen yellow
And large above the clouds
Like bright tiger eyes we saw beyond zoo fences
When we turned twelve

Do you still remember?
Come hold my hand tight
And make me feel so very safe
Where are you now?
Would you still protect me tonight?

It is now in the early dawn
The moon has set with a sigh
And the sun is rising slow

Where are you now?
Are you thinking of me
As I had in this sleepless night?
