My Fallen
-michael hoblak
Your wings may be broken, angel,
But I can help you fly again.
Just give me your hope,
And I’ll be your salvation.
I don’t wish to feed you lies,
They always taste so sour.
You deserve the sweetest fruits,
You deserve the sweetest truths.
You’ve fought this fight alone,
Carried it all on your shoulders.
But I’m here to help you now,
To help you with your burden.
Let me carry that cross for you,
Take your forty lashings.
There is no task too daunting,
To see you flash that smile.
You try to walk this road alone,
But fool-saint, you suffer far too much.
Mind, body, soul, all crippled,
Let me be your breathless crutch.
These wet shoulders,
They will never drown.
Angel, can’t you see,
That you’re safe with me?
Fragile as glass,
You’re my porcelain doll.
One wrong bump,
And to pieces you fall.
I’ll put you on the highest shelf,
Keep you hidden from it all.
So stand up straight and walk,
Never again do you have to crawl.
You’re the beauty the world hides from itself,
The secret it would never tell itself,
The lies it spreads to protect itself,
The love it uses to haunt itself.
Even in the deepest pits of Hell,
I can feel my heart burn for you.
It makes this place feel so cold,
Forever young, yet so old.
Seconds last forever,
When you live for nothing,
Minutes are eternity,
And hours never come.
Sins will come and sins will go,
Pain is here and always will be.
But trust in me, we can make it through,
We suffer in life to rest in peace.
So sleep, little angel,
You deserve the rest.
And when you wake again,
The sun will shine for us.
