Ice Queen

I stagger towards her
The spirit locked beneath the ice
My footsteps chained by frozen snow;
The harsh winter breeze
Asphyxiates my lungs,
The grey skies blanket
A silent, breathless land
And below the icy earth
The souls of broken dreams
Dead, fallen, forgotten.

The taste of bitter cold
She feeds us her ice covered wrath;
I try to keep pushing through
The labyrinth of her freezing hell
With no escape,
I’m caged;
In my fears there’s hope
A small ray of freedoms light
And as I hold my life
In my fingertips, I see
The beauty of her shadow.

We entered her realm together,
We two, who brave the unknown
Against the cold of Antarctic winds;
Keep on moving,’ my voice cries
But her cold wings engulfed him
Her embrace turned his heart to stone,
Covered his soul with
A breathtaking cloak;
Do you believe it?
The wind has sung its elegy.

His last breath forever silenced
As her screams ordered, ‘leave!
Solitude engulfed me,
My mind was tortured;
One more soul lost
To the darkness of the snow,
I prayed to God to keep him safe
To save him from her fury.

I must keep moving forward
Toward the light, it’s fading
I can’t give in,
I will it not,
I won’t be sacrifice to her rage;
She wears her crown of crystal
In her palace, she’s all alone
And as another day dawns
Through a sky of shining light
Her secrets masked by winter
Claim those who come too close.
