She purges herself in poems

Covers her body with harsh perfumes

Laces her fingers with cigarettes

Showers her hair in the ashes

Lets the fire burn her skin

She needs to feel relief

A man takes her hand

She can't look into his eyes

She knows what's gonna happen tonight

She drugs herself with courage

And knocks his hand from hers

But she's still dying from the last time

She walks away from the past life

Won't stop scrubbing her skin

Threatening herself to end her own life

All because of him.
