A/N: I know this story is short, but I’m only going to make it 7 chapters long. So this is the last one of the two stories. This chapter is going to be a bit rushed, and I’m stopping the story here because I don’t know what I want to do to lengthen this story out longer.

Chapter Seven: Getting Help

-Riley’s POV-

“And then, my mom was like ‘you have to take off the plastic first” Zack said to me after finishing a joke. I forced a laugh and then stared down at my hand. Zack sighed. “Riley?”

I looked up and he pressed his lips against mine. I sat there, shocked for a few seconds, and then pushed him away. “Zack, what the hell are you doing?!” I demanded.

“I wanted to see how you felt about Lucas” Zack replied calmly.

“And you had to kiss me to do that?” I asked, standing up.

“Look, why don’t I get you a soda or something” Zack said and motioned for the waiter to come over.

“How about you get one” I said coolly, and grabbed the soda off the tray that the waiter was carrying and chucked it into his face before running back to my house.

-

“Luke? Lucas?” I called once I got home. Lucas walked out of the kitchen, eating a apple. He looked at me and a icy look came over his eyes. “What’s wrong?”

“Why don’t you ask your boyfriend, Zack?” Lucas asked and started to walk by me. I held out my arm to stop him.

“What do you mean, you’re my boyfriend” I replied.

“Not after Zack kissed you and you didn’t do anything to stop it” Lucas shot back.

“Whoah, you don’t know what you’re talking about!” I cried.

“Oh, don’t I?” Lucas asked sarcastically.

“No you don’t, I mean, yeah, he kissed me. But I was shocked for a few seconds, and then I pushed him away!” I replied.

“Oh” Lucas replied and then sighed. “Look, I don’t think that you and I are cut out for dating”

“I don’t think so either, things are so complicated now that we’re together, things were more simple when we were friends” I agreed.

“We don’t have to stop dating each other completely, just take a break for a while” Lucas replied.

“Sure” I said with a sad smile.

“Just do me one favor” Lucas replied.

“What’s that?” I asked.

“Tell you’re dad that you’re cutting yourself” he replied. I took a step back.

“How do you know that?” I asked.

“Bailey knows too” Lucas replied. “We saw the cuts and scars on your arm one night when you were asleep” he replied.

“I, I, uh-“

“Tell him, please” Lucas insisted, grabbing my arms. I pulled them away from his grasp.

“I’ll tell him later” I said and went up the stairs to my room.

-

After dinner I went up to the stairs to the bathroom and washed my face and hands, when I got back Dad stood in the doorway with a raised eyebrow. I didn’t have to turn around to know what that look meant. Sighing, I went back to the bathroom, opened her medicine cabinet and grabbed the small book. Not thinking about it, I flipped open the pages, held it in front of his face and said, “Read it.”

After a pause Dad said in a surprisingly calm voice, “I can’t, because there’s blood on it.” His eyebrows rose as he pulled a razor blade out from between the pages. “Care to explain this?”

“I…I uh…”

Dad put down the book and, before I could run, grabbed my wrist. I winced in pain and mentally kicked myself. Dad took off the bandages and looked at the scars on my arms. He dropped my arm as I looked up at him with tears in my eyes. He backed out of my bedroom and sat on the floor staring hard at me as I fidgeted under his gaze.

“How could you do this to yourself?” He asked in a hoarse voice. “How could you hurt yourself like this?”

“Daddy–“I started, but he held up his hand to silence her.

“I thought you were happy.”

“I am happy daddy, believe me,” I said as I sat next to him. “But I’m a teen. I make mistakes. This was just…one of them.”

“I want you to stop,” he said in a soft voice.

“I can’t,” she said in an equally soft voice.

“Why not?”

“Because you don’t have my life, dad!” I said as I jumped up from the floor and turned her fury filled eyes towards him. “You aren’t constantly compared to your friend and family! You don’t feel empty inside because the other half of your family is happy! I feel guilty about what happened to Bailey! They can go on through the bad times because they have siblings to help them through it!”

I didn’t say anything, but glared at a broken picture that was on the floor. Glass was shattered around it and the frame was bent. He took one look at it before returning his blue eyes towards me. “Don’t worry, we’re going to get you help”

---

I'm here without you baby
But you're still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
And I dream about you all the time
I'm here without you baby
But you're still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl its only you and me

“WHAT!? YOU’RE GOING INTO REHAB!?”

“Yeah, and I have to leave now if I want to get better” I replied and hugged Bailey. He hugged me back tightly.

“Just, don’t forget about me while you’re there, I really want you to get better” Bailey said.

“I know, so do I” I whispered and kissed his cheek before turning to Lucas.

“I’m going to miss you,” Lucas stated.

“I’m going to miss you too,” I said with a nod. He walked forward hesitantly, but wrapped his arms around her waist in a hug. He rested his forehead on my shoulder as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders.

“Um…I got you this,” Lucas said as he held up his hand. I opened my palm and he dropped a necklace into it. I looked down and saw that at the bottom of the gold chain was her name with Ruby gems shining on top of it.

“You didn’t have to do that,” I said a I clipped it around my neck.

“I know, but I wanted you to have something that you’d remember me by,” he said as he shoved his hands into his pockets.

I smiled a little before stepping forward and moving my mouth over his in a sweet kiss. Lucas removed his hands from his pockets and held my waist as he kissed me back, not wanting to let go. He made a tiny whimpering noise as I pulled away and rested my forehand on his chest.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon,” I whispered before letting go and getting into the car.

-Normal POV-

Wiping away a stray tear, Bailey waved as the car got smaller and smaller. He felt a hand on his shoulder and didn’t have to look to know it was Lucas.

“She’ll be back,” Lucas said gently.

“I know,” Bailey responded as he dropped his arm. “I just hope she comes back soon. Let’s go back in.”

Turning around, Lucas draped and arm over Bailey shoulder as Bailey leaned into him and they started to walk/wheel back to the house.

No one knows what it’s like

To be the bad man

To be the sad man

Behind blue eyes

THE END
