ILLUSIONS
“BLOODY IDIOT!” He swore loud and violently, the army general’s voice echoed throughout the night and he made no attempt to conceal his frustration; “We’ll get ‘em! I swear, one day, I’ll go kill ‘em all!”
Just as the soldiers began jeering to show approval of their leader’s vision, Adrian approached them. He stood tall and sharp-looking, not a single hair out of place, and immediately silent was once again restored; “You’re scaring the people of this community, and ruining the city that we have thrived to build for so many years; the city that so many of us have put our sweat and blood into.” His voice rose up a slight notch, but still he remained emotionless and continued, “I cannot allow you to ruin the one thing I am happy with.”
“You’re a disgrace you are, Adrian! Pathetic. I saw you talking to that, that thing! Turning into your sister you are...”
“Don’t you dare talk about my sister!!” and with a blink of an eye, Adrian had shape shifted into his vampire form; his stare was piercing and his voice completely mirrored that; “I could take you down any time, Mitch. Don’t think for once that behind that dismal outfit you call your armour; you’re going to be safe. I could draw your blood out in an instant!” He spat, taking large strides and closing in on the leader of the army.
“Is that a threat, sire?”
“Call it a friendly warning, Mitch. Call it whatever you fucking like, but I won’t let you or your brainless clan seek out vengeance, not under my ruling.”
“You are forgetting one thing, right now, you don’t rule, you have no command. I’m sure the chief is planning to get rid of you right now.” The man who went by the name of Mitch smirked unevenly, displaying a set of disturbing yellowish teeth.
“I have my own powers, they may not be legit at this very moment, but the throne is mine and it’s a hell of a lot more than what you have.” Adrian chuckled, his white, unbelievably sharp teeth sparkling in the darkness; “And I also have men queuing up to feast off you, so don’t get too comfortable where you are. If you’re going to disrupt my kingdom, you best think twice, this is going to be a heaven for my sister and the rest of these people, not the kingdom of hell that you imagine and if you’ve got a problem with that, pack your bags and go into hiding, because I’ll have you hunted down!” He drew his speech to an end, and spun on his heals, his cloak swaying behind him like a distorted shadow. Adrian walked away.
And the army teleported back to their camp, leaving the towns people to return once again and continued their lives as though the disruption had never existed in the first place.

The warmth inside the police car had improved my mood by a great extent, and I now felt rather comfortable talking to these two strangers, who most probably would rather be asleep right now than out finding a lost seventeen year old, and yet, they seemed to be listening with interest.
“I’m really sorry about all this” I concluded, “I suppose I haven’t got the hang of being in control over my own life yet.” I tried to laugh at my pathetic attempt of humour, but instead of laughter or even lighter air; all that was present was the awkward silence of the night.
“It happens; teenagers are always getting themselves into something or another around here.” The policeman’s voice was low but he did not state this in a rude, impolite manner from a lack of patience or otherwise; instead, his voice was calming as if he simply understood all teenagers and their day-to-day habits.
Momentarily, I felt as though the world around me had shrunk; a sort of claustrophobic feeling – not that I would actually know how it felt to be claustrophobic, but lets just say it was what I would expect it to be like. It felt as though there was a short supply of air. As if, whilst I stayed my normal size; the car had turned into one of those miniature-sized racing cars. But it only lasted for a few seconds, and before I had time to adjust in the uncomfortable feeling; I was pulled back to reality; where the air was warm and the world around me, in correct proportion. It was better this way, but for some reason, I still felt drained.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” I had not expected the female figure in the drivers’ seat to turn and look at me so abruptly, wear a shadow of anxiety on her face, nor ask me a question which I had answered already for this night’s events. She had already pulled the police-car onto the side of the road; and with a quick nod of understanding between the two of them; both police officers were watching me with such apprehension that I felt like cowering from their fixed gazes.
If I wasn’t alright, would I say I was?? What was there to hide with the way I felt? I mean, I feel perfectly fine...
“Of course I-” but before I had a chance to finish my sentence I suddenly felt my cheeks burn a beetroot red, the temperature of the car had increased to unbearable measures – I was roasting to death.
“You look like your burning up. Do you feel sick?”
In my head, none of it made any sense. One minute I was completely fine: alive and kicking and the next I was gasping for air and coughing violently.
“Viola...Viola?...Viola!!” the words simply echoed in the air, and as I gasped for breath; unable to continue inhaling and exhaling as usual; I couldn’t help but to give into the stinging pain at my chest and slowly I allowed myself to fall back on the car seat, my body stiffening and finally...Relief; as everything numbed.
Eyes: shut. Breath: cut short.
It was too late.
