“The Unwanted”

Looking into a mirror, I see my tarnished image
Staring back from that plate of polished glass.
Sunken eyes, hateful with rage,
Disdain the picture before me.

I AM THE UNWANTED;
I am the perplexed soul led astray.

Rejected by Heaven,
Rejected by Hell,
Rejected by myself,
…Continually…
I wait for a fate worse than death.

A cruel dark abyss;
Floating nothingness.
No friendly voice; no jovial song.
Day is night, and night is long.
An absence of deity, of hope, faith, and love.
No sign from powers below or above.
Alone in the cold, shivering without end,
Accompanied by neither foe nor friend.

I AM THE UNWANTED;
I am the perplexed soul led astray.

Break my brittle bones
And shape them into something new,
Something less human
And not as delicate.

I AM THE UNWANTED;
I am the perplexed soul led astray

Rejected by Heaven,
Rejected by Hell,
Rejected by myself,
…Eternally…
I endure a fate worse than death.

I am the perplexed soul led astray,
Confined to life on earth infinitely.
