Rock-hard Rain

Clouds crawl subtly over our

Bent heads as we go about our work.

They arm themselves with spears

Ready to be leashed in a one-way battle

Upon the parched land.

I wait in awe for the

Rock concert to liven up my day.

Whilst somewhere else someone else

Fears how these foretold emotions

Will fracture their safety.

My little lion watches at the

Back door, nose just over the frame,

He waits to fight and to ward

Our home from uncontrollable terrors,

Now a two-way battle.

The drums begin; I feel their beat

Within me driving through

My feet, my bones, my blood.

Lights flash bright; my light flickers

But still lives.

The music brings the houses down

And I’m in amongst it all,

Staring into the lid-less sky

That drenches my dry hands

With water I ignore.

Inspired by ths storm of last night (pathetic though it was!) and a Rock-music TV thing I watched about bands like U2 doing live aid, providing water for those in need.
