Summary: She was me and I was her
Summary: She was me and I was her. We were one yet separate. And then he came and tried to piece myself together…
A/N: Since I really haven’t said much in a long while, I might as well…I truly think this is the beginning of the turning point of Sarah’s character, which is the main plot in all of this. Her mother’s suicide attempt was really more of a push, but she still has to take the steps. Thank you for reading!

I have never played a sport in my life.
Nor have I ever seen one so up close.
The coach let me have a seat on the bench.
But when everyone was standing at the sidelines.
And yelling for their teammates.
I couldn’t sit alone.
I don’t have any idea what is going on.
The coach will tell me every once in awhile what the score is.
But I don’t know much of the rules.
I end up mostly watching James.
I don’t think I could ever run so much.
Especially right into other people.
Or a large flying ball.
My eyes widen in fear.
The whistle is blown and everyone comes back.
James waves me over.
As he is drinking out of his water bottle.
“So…
What did you think?”
He is out of breath.
I look to the ground.
At his battered knees and dirty shoes.
“It looks painful and tiring,”
It’s all I can say.
And James bursts out laughing.
I nearly smile too.
But I don’t know why.
“Yeah,
It is a bit.
But it is still really fun,”
I look at his sweaty forehead.
And how his chest is heaving.
But his eyes are shining with unknown energy.
The whistle is blown again and he runs back to the field.
Other teammates laugh and joke.
They are all having fun.
She looks from over my shoulder.
“It’s not strength that they have.
It’s passion,”
I don’t look at her.
But look at James.
And though his body is tired.
And beaten.
He still runs with the rest of his team.
Feeding off some kind of strength.
That I have never found.
Her eyes are on the field.
“Hm?
Maybe we’ve just never looked for it.”
