Costa Rica.

Costa Rica (rich coast in English) has many interesting features. The country is noted for its rich rain forests, active volcano, activities (including tourism, horseback riding and ziplining), animals and plants, and beaches.

The country has the Pacific Ocean to the west with beautiful beaches. “Spy Kids Two” was filmed on one of the beaches. Rain forests dominate to the east. In the center of the country, near Arenal, an active volcano looms. There is a hotel there where I have stayed, but it has no tv or phone. Further east are banana plantations. Finally, the east coast of Coast Rica ends at the Caribbean Sea. Here you will find the island of Tortuguero where sea turtles nest during the summer

The animals of Costa Rica are terrific in my opinion. One animal, the the coatimundi or pescote in Spanish, is similar to a raccoon, but is cuter and is found near Arenal usually begging tourists for bananas with their “Will be cute for food” signs. Some other animals there are birds, jaguars, capybaras, and ant-eaters.

There are many activities to do in Costa Rica. Horseback riding is offered near the mountains. Ziplining is offered in the mountains. Also, Arenal has horseback riding and is near the mountains. The only problem is that the shopkeepers outside of the hotel in Arenal only speak Spanish. Costa Rica offers bird identification classes.

There are other interesting facts about Costa Rica. The official la in Costa Rica is Spanish and most people, especially in the country, do not speak English. A common industry is language immersion classes for Spanish. Sadly, there are no hospitals outside of the cities.. Their money is called colones. There are discounts in the stores if you speak Spanish.
