As toddlers, they chased each other in an innocent game of tag or hide-and-seek.

As children, they fought with each other for the last Oreo.

As junior high students, they sat together at lunch and discussed everything from teachers to Tylenol.

As high schoolers, they sneaked into deserted hallways and closets and stole kisses.

As college students, they spent entire nights in each other's dorms, finishing up the project worth half the semester grade or celebrating a passing exam.

As married adults, they argued over everything and anything only to find themselves arguing over something they agreed on.

As parents, they both tried to show kids the difference between love and lust in an attempt to make sure they didn't mistake one for the other and end up heartbroken or heartbreaking.

As grandparents, they told their grandchildren this story.
