may days and drizzling ought to inspire some magic onto the page yet
i eat Hershey’s kisses from my cushiony covered box with the arabesques designs
that i keep hidden in my trunk
i do yard work - scoop up fallen brittle leaves and branches and grass
turned up savagely by the dog
she's this gorgeous German shepherd with shining black fur and pale orange highlights
she's got sharp nails and she bites
i proudly display my battle scars, healing cuts on my wrists and legs and thighs
i go outside in my brown cargo short shorts,
barefoot because i relish the feel of the mud in between my toes
when i'm watering the banana and mango trees and the blossoming jacaranda growing up in that odd corner by the fence
i carry my art supplies outside - paint tubes, canvas panels, brushes - in that jade green weaved bag with the tiny mirrors sewn into the fabric
snatched from some artsy whose changed her major to biology
and flown to Peru for some adventure
set up my station beneath the shade of the banana tree and paint
atrocities
hideous uninspired paint smears starkly contrasting
the peace of outdoors slightly disturbed
by rain cloud gray doves descending upon the grass, a rustle of wings,
classic symbols of something that no less fails to offer inspiration
