Mommy, a drug addict followed me home

Can I take care of him please?

He's very quiet except when he cries

Or is hurting from his disease

His mom threw him out - or he has none

I wasn't quite clear from his words

And you know well my need to shelter strays

Whether they be puppies or birds

Mommy, the drug addict is very sweet

He hugs me when my life gets rough

His boyfriend just dumped him, poor guy

He needs to work through some stuff

He promises not to smoke while he's here

Snort, huff, or intravenously inject

I think we could help him dry out

Oh please, please don't say you object!

Mommy, I think he needs God in his life

And God has sent him to me

Jesus ate with the sinners, because

They needed most His ministry.

Let's get him a doctor, and maybe some soup

He hasn't eaten for days, I'm afraid

I know God in Heaven will smile down at us

For giving His lost child such aid

Mommy, the drug addict may die pretty soon

Or the cops might take him away

I don't think prison would improve things at all

He needs love and care every day

What if I were the one addicted and lost?

Wouldn't you want a family to take me in?

He's shivering, so cold, please let me protect him

Let's decide to give love for sin
