I walked out onto my balcony, crossed my arms, and leaned on the edge. I breathed the fresh morning air, and looked about the town. Many

people were awake, the women watering flowers, and beating clothing,

the men riding their bikes off to work, and the children running across

the streets to wake their friends. A few lone chickens scuttled around,

and a man herded his steers through the parkway. I was still jet lagged

from the long flight, and was surprised to see so much happening so

early.

The school group decided not to stay in a major city, but in a small,

local town, abundant with culture and beauty. The city was full of

charm, and romance; young couples looked happy together.

I smiled sadly as a girl and her boyfriend rode past, the man pulling

her on a small cart. she laughed, delighted, and the boy struggled up a

small hill. I wish I had a guy who'd love me.

(the group traveled around the town on their great, lumbering bus.

Carolyn sat with her new friend she met at the airport, and they

silently enjoyed the trip. the group stops in a garden)
