A child,

Cast among gutters,

Vermin and pestilence,

Thrown at the mercy of

Chilling wind and rain,

Forgotten among

Fog and smoke.

Invisible.

A teenager,

One of forgotten

Name and Age,

Scrambling among

Concrete and

Shoes,

Searching for

A token of hope.

A rusting,

Copper penny.

An adult,

One of torn

Clothing,

Worn shoes.

Rejected by society,

Brothers, and Sisters.

An Untouchable.

An old, grey soul,

Standing strong against

The chill of wind and rain,

Staring into the frightened eyes

Of another Invisible soul,

A child, left in the cold,

Soon to be forgotten among

Fog and smoke.

She places a hand

On the shoulder of

The child,

Offering one sad,

Yet warm smile.

A Friend.
