Prologue:

"Yrta, you finished?" Vdrian, the elder sin questioned, his voice carried from the room over. He entered the dimly lit conference hall, waiting patiently for his companion.

"Yea," came the faint whisper, his voice hesitant. The boy dropped his gaze from the balcony in the Lady's room to his hands, seeing the floor beneath them, both in which were drenched in crimson; the life of another. "She just died so... easily."

"It's okay, Yrta," Vdrian stated, solemnly allowing his hand to the other's shoulder. He knew the difficulty of this for his friend, so he didn't pry.

Overwhelmed, the younger vampire held back tears, the burning sign of anguish stinging behind his closed eyes. He could taste the thick, dark blood still lingering to his the pair of fangs behind his stoic lips. The bitter sensation of death in his throat, he managed to utter: "Life is so..." he paused, searching for the precious word, "Fragile. It's pathetic!" His gaze floated over her lifeless figure, trying best not to avert from what he had caused. His sin. Her face remained peaceful, even through her shock of the situation when she was still living. Thin fingers twitched into a claw position, blood trickled down his wrist as he raised his hand to capture his stare. "It can be crushed without the slightest bit of effort." The words had no questioning tone to them, so he hadn't expected the other to reply.

"Yrta..." Vdrian advanced to his front. Strong fingers lifted the boy's chin so he could stare directly into the confusion in his being. "That wasn't a wrongful act: you had to. Don't hold the blame on yourself." He hoped for an opposite response:

Personality altered to the opposing pole, his fist loosened before he nearly threw his emotions at the taller male, capturing him in an embrace. Grip tight enough to have a desperate feel. "She was my sister..."

The hue of an aged wine in the man's narrowed eyes grew more saturated as they opened wider by a fraction. "I know," he lied, in an attempt to bring comfort. "You can blame me if you need."

"No!" Yrta exclaimed into his chest, his words immediately threatening to seep straight into him. "You had nothing to do with it..." The sudden tight grip around a portion of Vdrian's shirt lessened.

Whispered, "Let's just go." At those words, the boy's attention lifted, blue orbs finding some strong emotion in the darker ones: the one he needed. He mentally nodded.

The pair strode at a pace only great enough to move them from the building quickly, only slow enough to still see the torn emotions lain on the faces of the mass corpses splayed across the carpeted floor. The color of their life had already begun to soak into the complex designs of the floor decoration. The guards and innocents that once, in a living state, blocked their way now had no play in what they decided next.

To kill the Lord's Daughter. That is what they had done. At arrival, after the deaths of merely a hundred, Yrta froze at the discovery that the Lady of the house was a vampire of the same blood.

His sister.
