The skies were dark and teeming with thick heavy raindrops that were falling from the heavens. A young boy clad in black stood at the back of a crowd holding a small bundle of blankets. Inside the bundle a tiny baby gurgled happily unaware of the somber crowd. The boy smiled slightly at the young princess but then his smile went sour as he remembered the death she had inadvertently caused. The proud Elvin kingdom, Lilithela, had lost their beautiful and intelligent queen, Ilane, to child birth. That was why he and the little princess Kasara were standing out in the cold bitter rain. Bitter rain that matched the dark mood of the processing funeral. The crowd in front of them slowly thinned then finally vanished leaving the boy and baby alone in the dark graveyard. He carried the princess to Ilane's grave letting her gurgle a last goodbye while letting himself say goodbye to his beloved queen.
"May you rest in piece Mother."
The boy brushed his finger tips across the cold marble of the headstone.
"I'll look over Kasara for you, so no worries. I'll protect her no matter what Mother, I swear."
He looked down at Kasara and felt a shiver travel down his spine as he noticed for the first time but not the last her creepy blood red eyes.
