Rose Petals (sonnet)
The delicate petals of a soft red rose,
They lie at the foot of your dark tomb,
This deep bruising pain in my deflated heart grows,
As the pain grows, the delicates rose falls out of bloom,
I kneel in the old church, where your tomb is set,
Counting the rose petals that helped you say goodbye,
I just want you to know it’s not my time yet,
And I wish that we had ended on a note so high,
Why did I not tell you that I forgive you?
I know that it was not your fault this time,
And whilst I know my days are going to be quiet and blue,
I can’t help but sob, as I hear midnight chime,
I’ll look for your face from the window at night,
And the smile on your face that always caused light
