Spark’s Crush

Penned by Schinn-Sama

Sparks writing in his journal and thinking about his roommate. One-sided Yaoi.

----

She wrote me a "dear john" letter. It said in it she'd found someone new at her own school and she didn't want to see me any longer.

That's a good thing, I guess. Because I don't have to tell her. I never did. Never wanted to. I didn't want to hurt her. Now I don't have to. I'm safe. Alone. No one knows, though I think my roommate is starting to suspect.

How can I tell him? I can't. I won't. It's wrong. I was raised to believe it as such. I'd rather die than have the only one left in my life leave me. I lost her to a new guy at her own school in her own city but if HE left me, too... I can't tell him. I can't tell him how much I love him.

Sparks quickly shut the journal and tucked it under his mattress before his door opened.

"Hey, you're awake. I was gonna get ya up. Well, hurry up and get dressed. You got work in a little bit," Riley said and pulled his door closed again.

The DJ released the breath he wasn't aware of holding and rubbed his face. He'd been up all night again. Riley's entire shift at wherever the hell he worked. Well, he had work in under an hour so the show must go on.

He climbed out of his warm bed and slipped on clean clothes before padding to the kitchen to get some caffeine. He paused at the kitchen walkway and watched his roommate cook up some eggs and toast. He could smell the coffee brewing from his room alone and the sight of a domestic Riley always struck the DJ as something rare, even though it was almost a nightly occurence.

"Hey, wake up, Sparky, food's gettin' cold," Riley said, snapping his diminutive friend out of his reverie and setting a plate of eggs on the table. "Coffee's gonna be a minute. Forgot I had to open a new package."

"Yeah. Yeah, okay," Sparks said and sat down, glancing up at his tall green haired roommate before digging into his food.

"So how come you were awake?"

"I-uh-couldn't sleep. Had things on my mind."

Riley looked up from his share of the eggs, his dinner before he took Sparks to work. "Oh? What things?"

"Just things."

"Something you want to tell me, man?"

"No, it's nothing important." Sparks put the plate ont he counter and poured coffee into a travel mug. "Sugar that up for me while I brush my teeth, would ya?"

"Sure, man."

--

"Hey, you know you can tell me anything, right?"

Not this. Never this. You'd kill me or worse leave me. Sparks nodded and made to leave but Riley grabbed his shirt and planted a smooch right on his cheek, resulting in a red-faced DJ.

"Have a good night, man. I'll get ya in a few hours."

"O-okay. See ya," Sparks said and left the white jeep, running for the door and his booth. His producer, Sam, was waving at him to hurry and he made it just in time. He took a deep breath and silently prayed his voice wouldn't crack and flipped the switch. "Good morning, Insomniacs! It's 4:30 AM out there somewhere, I must be on air! This is your DJ Sparks and I am here to listen to what YOU have to say! This morning's discussion is up to you, dial me up and we'll chat. First caller is Dave. Hiya, Dave, this is Sparks, what can I do for you?"

Out in the parking lot Riley flipped the switch and listened to his friend talk on the air until he reached their shared apartment, when he shut of the radio and left for bed. Sparks would be needing to be picked up in a few hours and he needed sleep first before he could get him. He still had another job to do by that time and though he did pull in most of the money he didn't want to leave Sparks in the hands of his producer for TOO long.

Who for some reason seemed to think the poor short DJ as gay.

He shrugged and toppled into bed.
