I step outside the door,

disturbed from sleep by an old enemy.

Vermilion water snakes;

the kind children play with when

their parents wash their cars

carress my foot sliding past me

To a darker point in the hall

the ever darker spot in my mind.

a coagulation, a skein of

vermilion enemies. thoughts, actions,

they all point the same way.

"You know you're insane,

crazy, crazy, all limp and hazy

Tesky bumped his toe and

and ran to Stacy."

The clown that's ever present at

my back and in my conscience.

Forever taunting me to join the dark.

"Go'way." His lips curl into

a jovial glint.

"What? Crazy Tesky goin ta hurt the

mean ol' night monster?"

No, I wouldn't do that.

To the bathroom we will go.

To release more vermilion enemies.

Razor born enemies.

They make me woozie.

"Crazy Crazy all limp and hazy

Tesky cut his thigh, all up high

now he can't run to Stacy."

I curl my lips and my fingers.

I watch little vermilion snakes carress

their way down my leg,

all coagulating at my foot.

My enemy is here,

hiding in the body

Fuelling the life of the Night Monster.

The vermilion snakes slither

over to the crouching clown

in the corner.

And Hide from reality in his viens.
