THE FLOWER
By Joshua Parish
Truth to fall is truth to reign,
Truth that makes you go insane.
Dark surrounds, I can’t escape
Fallen away, lost all shape.
What truth I see, reality
What truth I see, insanity
Life makes pain, shame makes dark
Then you see this world too stark
In the shadow, in the gloom
I see a flower grow and bloom
The tiny glower is a light,
A star shining in my night
Surrounded by the cold and dead
Petals spread, bright and red
The light grows with every breath
The breath of love can see no death
Flowers grow, bear fruits so sweet
That none can find any that meet
The fruit is life, but not so bad
A life to live not drowned in sad
The flower, mother of the fruit
Is light shone from human root
The root you ask my dearest one
Is you, my love, shining bright as sun.
