Prologue

“Should we go in, then?” the girl asked the boy.

The boy, leaning against that fence post, shrugged. “Whatever.” He looked around. “Or we could just turn around and-”

The girl cut across him. “Forget it, Hayden we just go kicked out of St. Denzel’s for jigging, this isn’t the way that-”

“Chill Taylor.” He straightened up and looked at her. “Are we going or not?”

Taylor pulled her bag higher into her shoulder.

They both walked into the school together. All the other students were already in class. “Where’s the office?” Taylor asked Hayden.

He shrugged. “How would I know?”

She groaned in frustration. “Whatever.”

After much walking around blindly without the help of Hayden, they both finally located the office.“How the hell are we supposed to find this place? There are no freaking signs or anything.” Hayden muttered angrily. They entered the building.

“Hayden, can you al least try to be nice?” Taylor pleaded.

“I am nice.” Hayden scowled.

Taylor snorted, “No, you’re not. Remember what you did to Bobby King?”

“It wasn’t that bad.”

“Hayden, he had to have bone regrafting and seventeen stitches.”

“As I said, it wasn’t that bad.”

“Whatever,” Taylor neared the desk at the other end of the office. “The bottom line is; you’re not nice.” Hayden shrugged. They heard the faint clicking of heels and within seconds, a tall skinny lady appeared into view.

“Hello! You must be my new students! I can't tell you how excited I am that you’ve joined us at this spectacular institution! Now, I know that starting a new school can be…” Hayden leaned over to Taylor

“Shoot me.”
