.StartofPrologue

And no one seemed to care as tears slipped from her eyes and rolled liquidly down her cheeks. No one paid her any mind as pale palms and slender fingers enveloped her face. Nor when her shoulders hunched and rumbled in the onslaught of miserable sobs. As teardrops seeped through the cracks of her fingers and breaths hitched in her throat, this saddened girl swallowed her terrible depression and regulated herself.

No one paid her any attention, for no one was there.

Straightening herself and her clothes, the girl brushed off her shoulder-length, light brown hair and wiped foggy tears from her drowning emerald eyes. Rubbing the wetness on her denim pants, she shifted her black sweatshirt so it sat more comfortably around her neck. Long, black eyelashes were damp with sorrow as her soft features tried to rid themselves of any evidence of this display.

Slender legs attached to thin hips as her midriff curved in an hour glass figure, slim shoulders beholding a proportionate head. Eyes sharp, yet innocent and lips curved into an invisible smile, she shoved her hands in the one pocket at the bottom of the front of her sweatshirt and started for the door.

Ready to exit the rare vacant room at the college building, the girl flicked her eyes to the exit, surprised and panicked to see a male figure leaning on the door frame. One of which she didn't seem to recognize at all.

“Yes? May I help you?” she asked politely, praying inwardly that he hadn't managed to see her breakdown not too long ago.

“I believe I should be asking you that,” he responded simply. Lorissa Keehl, the female of the room, watched as he tucked a dark strand of brown behind his ear. Her eyes glazed into his own chocolate orbs as she desperately ranked her mentality for anything as to who this man was.

“Thanks for the suggestion, but I really should just be going,” she ranted quickly, trying to brush her frail body past his masculine one through the doorway.

He stopped her with a hand on her elbow, and at first she was quite startled as panicked thoughts zoomed through her head. Turning to meet his gaze, she masked her fright and allowed herself to relax into the gentle smile he gave her.

“Be careful. A pretty girl like you shouldn't be crying all alone in an empty room,” his tone was soft and void of any real emotion. Frozen on the spot of that statement, Lorissa watched the unknown man let go of her arm and walk in the opposing direction she was headed.

Trembling emerald eyes searched his coated back as if that could provide the answer to her quarries. However, after he had long since disappeared from her sight, the college girl was left to ponder what exactly had just gone on between herself and that strange. One thing did seem to register in her mind, though, and that was the fact that he had seen her cry.

Suddenly hearing the bell signaling her to continue to her next class, the occurrence was shoved to the back of her mind as she proceeded to walk towards her unwanted destination.
