They stand aside

observing my graceful downfall,

commenting

at the especially interesting points.

They watch,

transfixed,

as if I were a show.

While I cry,

shaking with self pity,

they let out

sympathetic chuckles.

Without a second glance

they walk away

mocking my pain.

I hate the way

I weep silently,

tears leaking continually

from my dull eyes,

but seconds later

my dry sobs pierce

the humid night air

seizing all mystery

and peace,

the entire time

knowing that even if

my plea was heard

nobody would dare answer it.
