Sweety 7
A/N: Before you start reading, this is the chapter "6" that was posted before BUT I've changed some things. So if you've read it already, skip to where you last left off and continue. Yes I wrote more to it. Enjoy!
"Listen, Blake. I’m not in the mood to hear your excuses about why you didn’t come over. I already know why,” I say shortly. “Right now, I just want to finish this quarter without any problems.”
“Why should I make any deals with you?” Maria Blake asks as she shakes her head to the side, effectively swishing her hair to the side. “Just because your ‘man’ stood up for you doesn’t mean you have a right to speak to me this way.”
I give Maria a poor look.
“From the moment I came to this school, I had a right,” I inform Maria. “I might not be on an equal financial level, but I go to this school too. That means we’re on the same level.”
Maria huffs and I huff right back.
“You’ll never be on the same level am me,” she says. “You’re still poor trash.”
“And you’re still a narcissistic monkey, but who’s keeping records?” I retort. “All I’m trying to do is get past this year and leave peacefully.”
“What, is your man taking you away? You must have sold your body. I’m sorry that you’re too poor to get a real man,” Maria grins. Before Rohen, I would be offended, but now I can care less.
“I’m sorry, I’m still speaking with you,” I reply. “But I just told the teacher you didn’t do any work on this project. I just wanted to let you know you failed.”
Maria looks like she doesn’t believe me, and she doesn’t have to. But it’s true.
“If you don’t mind, I have to go to class,” I say and push past Maria. Something inside of me is telling me that I am nobility and that I don’t have to take anything from anyone. I am going to be the next Queen of Kaites.
I am feeling as if there is something in the back of my mind reminding me about the part of my life I don’t remember.
And for the rest of the school year (a whopping three months) I go through school as peacefully as I possibly could.
Finally the last day of school comes and it brings a smile to my face. I got dressed this morning with every intention of righting all the wrongs that were done to me in school. I already confronted Maria and not I have to inform the offices that I am not returning. The last person I am going to visit is Mrs. Valerie. Althier and Altier were very helpful for the time I’ve had them in school and I’m very grateful for them. Right now, they are waiting outside Mrs. Valerie’s office for me.
“So you’re moving again?” Mrs. Valerie asks me. I nod. “Where to?”
“Well, it’s somewhere far away,” I reply. “I’ll visit, don’t worry.”
Mrs. Valerie gives me a sad look.
“Is it because of your family?” she inquires softly.
I tilt my head slightly. Well… kinda.
“Not them,” I reply. “But it is because of family.”
Mrs. Valerie nods.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” she asks me. “I heard Miss Blake saying that you are affianced. This isn’t like you.”
I smile.
“I know,” I laugh. “But If I explained the whole situation, you wouldn’t believe me. But I think I will be able to handle myself. I’ve been doing fine up until now right?”
Mrs. Valerie gives me a skeptical look before she coughs behind her hand. I pout.
“Hey! What is that for?”
“You’re a passive aggressive person,” Mrs. Valerie replies. “One day you’re just going to lose it and explode. I don’t want to know what you’re going to do then.”
I laugh through my nose.
“Kill someone, most likely,” I reply.
Mrs. Valerie laughs.
“Well then we will be receiving you back rather quickly won’t we?”
I nod. I am going to Rohen’s world to be a princess. I know I am not princess material at this point. I’ve been living like a rat for the longest time. But Rohen is convinced that I am going to remember everything he claims I used to know. I know, I remember my name, and how to dance but that is all I can think of. Kailia, the word itself, makes me feel so warm but is that some sort of memory? I don’t know what I am going to do if I do not fit in.
Knowing me, I am going to force them to let me fit in. I am no damsel-in-distress. If I can help it (Rohen is a completely different situation) I will fight for myself and be strong for me.
“…I will trust you then,” Mrs. Valerie says gently. “But if you ever need someone to talk to, I will be here.” I already knew that.
“Thanks,” I smile. “I’d better go. Schools out and I’m the only one left.”
“It was a pleasure working with you, Heather,” Mrs. Valerie says. She stands up and walks the short distance to me and hugs me tightly. I hug her back. I feel a little sad because she is the only friend I’ve actually had in Mahria Veil. I turn around and walk out of the school with Althier and Altier trailing behind me. I guess now is the time to say that I can start my new life now. Rohen is waiting for me at the gate of the school looking very attractive (like normal). Althier and Altier give Rohen a curtsey when we reach him.
“Rohen! I’m all done!” I say smiling. “We can go now.”
“Are we not going to say farewell to the Raynold’s?” Rohen asks me. I nod.
“Of course we are,” I say grinning. “They’ve been taking care of me forever. So I have to say goodbye to them!”
Rohen nods.
“Naturally,” he says. “Althier, Altier, I need you to return to Kaites and prepare for my lady’s coming.”
“Yes my lord,” Althier and Altier say with bright smiles on their faces. “My lady, we will be taking your things to Kaites, so please do not worry about them.”
“Thank-you,” I say. Althier and Altier nod and quickly make their way in the direction of my apartment building.
“Then, shall we be on our way?” Rohen asks as Althier and Altier ebb out of earshot.
I nod again. I feel so excited that butterflies are all over my stomach. Rohen and I slowly make our way to my old apartment building. The day is warm and Rohen is keeping our conversation light. Just being next to him makes me happy. When we make our way to my apartment we find Mr. and Mrs. Raynold. They are in their apartment and are surprised when they see me. At once, they let me in but I tell them that I am not going to be there for long.
“So, you’re ready to be a princess now?” Mr. Raynold asks me with a soft smile on his face. He is like a father to me, and I feel as if I am leaving someone important behind.
“I’m ready,” I reply. “I was born to do this, right?”
Mrs. Raynold walks over to me and embraces me.
“You were and we know you are going to do well,” she says gently and releases me. “Make sure you don’t make any trouble for them.”
I smirk.
“Can’t promise anything,” I say. “I’m not quite princess material yet.”
Mr. Raynold and his wife laugh.
“Yes, this is true,” Mrs. Raynold chuckles.
“But not all princesses are true princess material until they are refined,” Mr. Raynold tells me. “You will eventually know how to do things and how things are run in the castle.”
I nod.
“I hope so,” I say. “…I want to thank you.”
“Thank us by becoming a lovely queen,” Mrs. Raynold says. “And think of us.”
“I’ll visit,” I say quickly. “You know I will.”
Mr. and Mrs. Raynold smile at me and Rohen takes my arm.
“It is time for us to depart,” he says. I nod but run to the Raynold’s once more. I give them one last hug before Rohen and I leave to the back alley again.
“Why are we here?” I ask him.
“To transport to my world,” he replies. “This is where we first connected so this the best place for transportation.”
I wasn’t even going to lie and say that I understood when I didn’t. Rohen looks into the air and suddenly we are surrounded by light coming from above. My body suddenly shakes and I feel as if I am being split apart from myself. I feel Rohen’s arm around my waist as he pulls me to him.
“I momentarily forgot you are not used to it,” Rohen says as I desperately clutch onto him. I am too out of breath and disorientated to say anything. Out of nowhere, our feet crash into the ground and my knees buckle. I would have fallen to the ground if Rohen’s grip was not so tight.
“Can you stand, my lady?” I hear Rohen’s soft question in my ear. My face heats up and I nod. I slowly detangle myself from Rohen’s arms and take a few steps away from him. A breath of fresh air hits me and I turn around. Lying out before me is a field of flowers, purple mountains in the distance and a wide blue sky. I am breathless.
Large columns frame the scene and just then, I notice that I am standing in some sort of palace. I look up and the ceilings are high and beautifully painted with scenes of angels fighting demons. Everything is made of white stone. I walk to one of the columns and place my hand on it. It is cool.
“This place is beautiful,” I say sighing.
“And you accentuate it,” Rohen’s voice is calm and deep. I flush, unable to turn around.
“I don’t accentuate it yet,” I say watching a small breeze make waves in the flower field. “But in time, I will.”
Rohen chuckles.
“How indescribable this feeling is Kailia,” something in Rohen’s tone makes me shiver.
“What feeling?” I venture to ask. I hear the soft click of Rohen’s shoes on the stone and before I can turn around, his hands are on my forearms. He squeezes them gently. My heart picks up a beat.
“I wonder,” he whispers softly. He releases me and takes his place at my side.
“…You enjoy being unseemly,” I mutter.
I see Rohen grin.
“I must admit to you, my lady, that I do indeed enjoy it,” Rohen says. I roll my eyes. The cheeky cad.
Strange words are exclaimed from behind us. Rohen turns around and I feel this… coolness coming from him. I turn as well and look at the person who addressed Rohen. He is a tall man (slightly shorter than Rohen) with dark blonde hair and handsome features. He looks like a knight in the armor black he is wearing (plus he had a huge sword on his back) but his eyes were closed. The knight man bows deeply.
“Kale,” Rohen acknowledges.
Kale, sounded like a strange name. But then again Rohen’s name wasn’t normal either and I was Kailia for crying out loud! This place came up with such odd names.
Kale opens eyes, and I see that they are a bright shade of green. They shift over to mine for a moment before he looks back at Rohen. His face is emotionless, as if it were set in stone. I frown. What is that all about? I hear Rohen snap in the same strange language Kale had spoken in earlier. Whatever Rohen just told Kale made him bow to me and say some other strange thing. I am confused.
“What’d you say?” I ask him. Now Kale looks at me in a confused way.
Rohen shakes his head.
“He cannot understand you and you cannot understand us,” Rohen says to me. “We speak a different language in Kaites.”
How helpful am I going to be if I can’t even understand the language?
“Who’s that helping really?” I ask frustrated. Rohen chuckles for a second before he says something to Kale. The handsome knight turns his back on us and I look up at Rohen confused. Rohen grabs my hand and pulls me toward him. A very familiar look is in his eyes but I just can’t tell where I’ve seen it before.
“I would recommend you close your eyes, but I doubt you will,” Rohen says tilting my head back slightly.
“What in the world do you think you’re doing!” I ask blushing furiously. “Rohen Castila Vaneyllia- don’t look at me like that!”
Rohen lowers his head closer to mine.
“Like what?” he questions softly. Like he’s gonna eat me or something! Rohen’s breath is on my lips and my mind goes blank. His lips gently touch mine before they are smothered. I feel something enter my mouth and slip down my throat. The sensation is so difficult to explain but I feel as if words are entering my body. Rohen pulls away and I cover my mouth with my hands, red in the face. Rohen just kissed me! The sly jerk!
“You can turn around Kale,” Rohen says to the knight. I barely have any time to compose myself. Kale turns around and bows to me. His face is still unchanged.
“My lady, First Princess,” he says in a calm voice. “You are truly amongst us at last.”
I gasp because I can understand him!
“I know what you’re saying!” I turn to Rohen and glare at him. “What’d you do?”
Rohen gives me a warm smile.
“Give you the language you have forgotten,” he replies. “Kale, please inform her majesty, the Queen that the First Princess has arrived.”
“Shall I inform the hands as well, my lord?” Kale asks.
“Please do. Her majesty will faint if she sees the First Princess this way,” Rohen says.
“Yes my lord,” Kale says before he departs.
I tilt my head slightly and frown.
“What’s wrong with the way I am dressed?” I asked Rohen. I was wearing my school uniform and there was nothing wrong with it.
“Your legs are exposed,” Rohen replies.
I am confused.
“But I’m almost always wearing my school uniform,” I say. “…That means you’ve seen my legs for a while now… wait a minute! Don’t tell me you guys don’t dress like that here!”
“No, ladies of the court wear a different sort of clothing,” Rohen says. “And you are First Princess so no one is ever supposed to see you this way.”
“But Kale did…” I mutter frowning.
“And he will not say anything about it,” Rohen’s voice is very strong and princely. I can’t believe that the first thing I do in Kaites is offend a knight.
“He is not offended,” Rohen says and I still can’t get over the fact that he can read minds. “That is why he will keep his mouth tightly sealed.”
I blush. In a second four young ladies that look like maids come out of the air and land in front of us. Two of them are Althier and Altier. They bow and look at me.
“Bathe her and dress her before her majesty, the Queen comes,” Rohen commands. “I will await her in this spot.”
“Yes my lord,” Althier says. Altier gently moves me away from Rohen before I feel my whole body pop. I am wide-eyed and amazed as I end up landing into a large room with steaming water flowing from the ceiling. Suddenly my clothes are being ripped from my body left and right and I can’t do anything to stop it.
“Hey-oh- hey! What are you doing? Put that back on!” I cry as I feel very exposed in front of people I do not know.
“My lady is embarrassed and has no need to be,” one of the maids says. “You are quite beautiful.”
I am too flushed to say anything. I wanted my clothes back on.
“Please, my lady, go into the warm water before you catch a cold,” another maid says. I jump into the water, only to hide myself from their eyes. In less than a second all four maids have a different part of my body to wash.
“My, what lovely skin you have,” Altier of the maids says to me. “So smooth and soft.”
“And what thick hair! It is so shiny!” Althier follows.
“And such perfect hands!”
“What long legs! Fit for First Princess!”
I can’t think because everything is going so quickly. The maids pour sweet smelling oils scents on my hair and wash it. Then they use soaps to wash me cleans. After the initial shock, it feels pretty good.
“There, my lady, you have relaxed,” one of the maids says to me.
“You didn’t give me an option,” I mutter.
“It is orders my lady,” another maid said. “My lord, First Prince’s orders cannot be denied.”
Nice to know.
“We must dress you, First Princess,” another maid said. “Then you must see First Prince.”
I sigh finally enjoying the water. This might just be a recreational activity. I stand up and instantly a towel is around me and the maids are helping me out of the water. The maids lotion my body and then dress me. I have never been dressed by anyone and it is odd, but something inside of me feels as if I’ve been dressed all the time. Before I lost my memories.
The dress they slap on me is blue and white and impossibly large skirted. I look like some sort of princess from a fairytale! I can’t imagine walking anywhere in this thing. I try to move but two of the maids stop me and put shoes on my feet. They are cute and white and the heel isn’t as high as I thought it would be, which makes things so much easier for me. One of the maids carries a mirror for me to look into. I am speechless. I don’t look like myself! But at the same time, these clothes sort of look like dress-up clothes. Like I’m trying to be something else…something I don’t quite fit into.
“First Princess, you are going to First Prince now,” one maid says. Before I can respond, I am popped through the air and in Rohen’s arms. My mouth is hanging open.
“I do remember saying I prefer you as a human to a fish,” Rohen says to me as I am placed on my feet. I am still in shock but I grin.
“I didn’t ask you,” I snap. I look up and I see a young looking lady dressed in fine clothes. A gold crown embroidered with purple gemstones is on her head, telling me she is the Queen. But she looks just slightly older than Rohen. Is she really his mother? Kale in all his black armored glory is behind her. Instantly my body moves on its own and bows deeply. Something in the back of my head is tingling. I can hear words.
“You are supposed to bow, Kailia.”
“Haha, I don’t want to bow to you, First Child.”
“Just because you are my fiancée it does not give you the right to be disrespectful. You have to make sure you bow to Her majesty, the Queen.”
“So she does exist,” the Queen speaks, breaking me out of my trance. “It is good to see you again, Kailia Lilium Renlenay.”
“Your words are too kind, Your Majesty,” the words just came out of my mouth before I even thought of them. “I am so happy to be back.”
“Rohen tell me you still enjoying dancing, do you care to show me some dances? You were quite good when you were younger,” the Queen asks.
“Yes, Your Majesty, I would love to show you,” I say. My head is tingling again. The Queen nods and turns around to walk away. I feel my mind slipping again.
“First Child dance with me!”
“You always want to dance, Kailia. You are lucky I enjoy it more than you do.”
“No you don’t! We can be equal!”
“We will see whom loves it more by whom dances the best! You are going to mess up!”
“Am not! You are going to step on my feet first!”
I gasp and cover my mouth with my hands. What the heck was that? My heart is beating so quickly. Who was I speaking to? I sounded so young. And the name ‘First Child,’ was I speaking to Rohen?
“My lady?” Rohen’s voice breaks me out of my thoughts. I jump slightly.
“Huh?” I ask looking around. We are still in the hall.
“Is my lady alright?” Rohen asks me concerned.
I nod. I was fine. I smile widely.
“I just remembered something!” I say excitedly. “We were dancing or something! I just heard voices but I know you and I were speaking!”
Rohen looked slightly relieved and I did not know why.
“Speaking of your favorite pastime, the Queen has invited you to dance. Are you going to keep her waiting?” Rohen asks me. I blush and shake my head.
“No! Where are we going?” I ask trying to figure out where the Queen and Kale went. Rohen chuckles and leads me down the corridor. We walk past an area with several large columns, leading to an open courtyard area. The columns have fairies carved into them. I stare at them in awe because the detail is so amazing. Even the wings are perfectly arched and rounded. Rohen takes me to a large circular room with large windows all around it. It’s a perfect fairytale ballroom! The Queen takes a chair and Kale stands behind her. I look to the other side of the room and see Frandre take his seat behind the piano. I am pleased but the pleasure fades as soon as I realize I have no idea how to move in this thing I’m wearing.
“This is gonna suck,” I mutter to myself.
“My lady, did you say something?” Rohen asks me. I smile sweetly at him, showing my displeasure.
“No,” I reply curtly. “Just trying to figure out how to waltz in a ball of fabric without looking like a goof.”
Rohen chuckles and takes my hand.
“I hope you haven’t forgotten,” Rohen says. “That would, as you say ‘suck’.”
My smile turns sickeningly sweet.
“If you heard me why did you ask what I said?”
Rohen takes my hand and waist and waits for the music to start.
“To hear your response, naturally,” he replies. “Did I mention you look beautiful?”
“You can say it again if you want,” I say smiling. I hear the music start and I blanch. Rohen chuckles at my face. In one swift movement, Rohen and I twirl and somehow I end up with a part of my dress in my hands. My feet have space to move. Rohen grins.
“Is that not more comfortable for you?” he asks me.
“Are you sure this is acceptable?” I ask, switching my hand positions with Rohen. “I mean can’t everyone see my legs?”
“They can only see your ankles,” Rohen replied. “So it is quite acceptable.”
I smile widely and dance with more vigor. Rohen and I waltz around the room until the Queen tells us to stop. I refrain from pouting and telling her that I wanted to dance more. As the Queen tells me and Rohen how well we danced, my head begins to tingle once more. I am starting to get concerned.
“First Princess,” the Queen says. “You have done well, but you need to practice a little more.”
I nod and bow.
“Of course your majesty,” I say. I only just remembered a few months ago. Of course I need to practice.
“You may borrow this room anytime you wish it,” the Queen continues. “But I cannot promise the First Prince will always be with you.”
I’m a little disappointed at that, but I can’t win everything.
“I will do my best then, your majesty,” I say softly. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Rohen smiling faintly. It pleases me to know that I make Rohen happy every time we dance. It makes me happy every time we dance as well. As the grand procession leaves the Great Ballroom, my head starts to do more than tingle. It actually hurts.
“Kale, please take the First Princess around the castle. The First Prince has an audience with his majesty, the King,” the Queen commands. I fight, really hard, the urge to glare at the young/old/ I-just-don’t-know-how-old-she-is woman. I’ve only just gotten here and Rohen has to leave me? Is she crazy?
“Of course, your majesty,” Kale says bowing. Rohen walks away from me, but kisses my hand before he leaves. I grin and blush. Kale walks to my side and we leave to explore other parts of the castle. My head starts to hurt more as soon as we pass a colonnade.
“This is the main colonnade that leads into the King’s Garden Square. All international relations start here,” Kale says as we walk deeper through the maze of marble columns. I feel something tugging at my brain and I don’t think I’ll be able to handle it anymore. I stop following Kale and lean my head against the cool surface of a column seeking relief.
“My lady…is ill?” I hear Kale’s question by ear and I jump up. My head thumps and I stumble. Kale catches me and holds me still. His hands are warm against my arms, but his grip is too strong. I wince slightly and Kale apologizes before letting me go.
“Calm my lady, please return to a calmer state,” the knight’s voice is soothing but concerned at the same time. I nod my head but keep my hands on it.
“I’m sorry,” I say rubbing my forehead. “It just became really bad all of a sudden.”
“Do you wish to rest, my lady?” Kale asks me.
I nod and Kale leads me by the arm to a bench in the King’s Garden. The path that leads us to the bench is made out of white stone and around it is an array of fragrant bushes. The sky is bright blue and I can feel the buzz of life through the air. Strangely enough I feel liveliness ringing in my head, whirling and spinning and running rampant from my head through my body, and to my toes. Behind the bench is a pool of water surrounded by stones. It looks deep enough to cover my head with water.
“Shall I call for tea, my lady?”
I shake my head.
“No,” I reply. “I just want to sit here for a moment. The sun feels good against my skin.”
Kale nods and stands to the side of me. I study him for a moment, taking note of his bright golden hair. It’s short and fluffy but it fits the shape of his jaw perfectly. The sides of his bangs hit his cheek as a breeze blows past and it find myself staring at the strands of hair. I can feel gentleness in them, in him, but more than my feeling something I can see a soft grey aura around him. The same color I saw around Rohen the night he took me on our first date. When Rohen’s eyes turned dark, and his voice wrapped around me, I could see that grey around him. It startled me with Rohen but seeing it around Kale makes me wonder what it means. I mean I’ve seen it around myself as well.
Kale turns to me after I’m certain he’s noticed my staring for quite some time.
“First Princess?” he questions.
“Kale, can you see ghosts?” I question. Kale raises an eyebrow, but other than that nothing in his face changes.
“Yes,” Kale replies slowly.
“Can everyone here see ghosts?” I ask.
“No,” Kale replies. “I daresay only three people that live here can.”
I raise my eyes in question.
“Three? Really?” I ask in excitement. “Who are they?”
Kale’s eyes revert back to the front of him, through the colonnade. I look to see if what he sees but I don’t see anything.
“I stand corrected,” Kale says after a second. “There are four of us.”
I open my mouth to say something but a cold runs up my arms and I whip my head in the direction of the colonnade once more. I see a man leaning against one of the columns. He is white, but a bright white that burns my eyes. I open my mouth to speak but my head doesn’t allow me to. It pulses with pain, my forehead feeling as if it is ripping open.
“Stop it,” I hear Kale say, but I don’t know if he talking to me or the person in white. The man takes a step closer to me and suddenly, pain explodes. I double over. I let out a strangled cry and clutch at my head. I feel Kale at my side and I clutch onto him. The man takes another step closer. I feel as if my eyes are bleeding.
“Stay where you are. You cannot feel her in your present states,” Kale says with a hint of anger in his voice. I close my eyes against the pain but it pulses again and I know the man stalks closer. My hand rush to my forehead once more, and they are wet. I open my eyes to stare at my blood covered hands.
“You are hurting her Rohae!” Kale yells. I feel my whole body shake and through itself backwards.
“Princess!” Kale says grabbing me to keep me from falling into the water behind us. My head lops to the side. I can’t keep it up anymore.
“Please hold on my lady, just a little longer,” Kale says moving to wrap his arm under my leg. But he stops and a bright light fills me under my closed lids.
“Step away from her,” Kale’s voice is cold, and I bet an even colder expression is on his face. “…You cannot keep doing this. Pass on Rohae… I am begging you now.”
For the first time, the cold seems to wash over me and I tremble in Kale’s arms.
“…You tempt me,” a voice of playfulness says and my head tears open. Blood flows down my face and my body is wrenched from Kale’s arms. I feel as is a separate pair of hands is on me, but they release me and I feel water touch my head before strong arms pull me back up.
“First Princess! Dear God!”
“Run away time,” I mutter before my consciousness disappears.
