Chapter 1

“Tally, there you are!” Brad exclaimed as he ran across the parking lot to his girlfriend.

“Yeah, where else would I be?” Tally asked.

“I was just worried, you know with the murders that have been taking place,” Brad explained.

“You don’t really believe any of that, do you?” Tally questioned. “It’s probably just the press making news up.”

“Then how did they get the pictures?” Brad questioned as he started to lead Tally back toward his motorcycle.

“They probably made them on the computer,” Tally said, too calm about the subject. Brad liked it how Tally was always calm and rational about stuff, but right then she was being insanely calm about the pending danger that being outside alone at night, in the area that they lived in, brought on. Sometimes he couldn’t understand Tally.

“Come on,” Brad said, they had stopped.

Tally and Brad stepped into Tally’s apartment to hear voices coming from the family room.

“I thought you said it was going to be quiet,” Brad said as they took off their shoes at the door.

“Sorry, I didn’t think Maya was having anyone over,” Tally replied sympathetically as they started toward the family room.

They stepped into the family room to find Jackson, who Brad knew from high school football, kissing Bethany, Brad’s little sister. As soon as Jackson saw Brad he dropped Bethany. Seconds later Brad’s look of shock shifted to a death glare toward Jackson.

Maya stepped into the family room from the kitchen.

“Oh, hey Tally, Brad,” Maya greeted. “When did you get here?”

“Maya, can I talk to you for a second?” Tally asked, but more like demanded.

“Yeah,” Maya answered as she started back into the kitchen, Tally close behind.

“Why are they here? Brad and I thought you were going to be at your mom’s house,” Tally stated, her hands on her hips.

“Why did you guys want me gone?” Maya questioned with a strange look on her face.

“Just answer my question,” Tally said, slightly irritated.

“Okay so Jackson and Beth were on a date and he was taking her home but she was scared so they…”

“What?!” They heard Brad say icily.

“Guess he knows,” Maya said, seconds before Brad stomped into the kitchen, fuming.

“Brad, calm down,” Tally said softly, squeezing Brad’s hand.

“They… they were… with out telling…” Brad tried to explain, his hands waving in the air.

“Well now you know how Tally’s brother felt when you took her away,” Maya said darkly, examining her manicured nails.

“Your brother really hated me?” Brad asked.

“Brad, he doesn’t hate you, he despises you,” Tally said, hugging Brad.

“Still?”

“He’ll always despise you,” Tally said. “Now come on. He’s your friend, he isn’t that bad, at least he stayed with her and brought her here instead of to his house or something.”

“I guess,” Brad mumbled reluctantly. Tally took his hand and led him back into the family room.

“So what do you guys want to do?” Tally asked, thinking that maybe she shouldn’t have made the subject of entertainment so broad. Bethany looked at Brad then at Jackson.

“We could watch a movie,” Bethany suggested.

“Okay, which one?” Maya said from behind Brad and Tally.

Tally sat close to Brad on the couch as they watched the Grudge.

Ding Dong

Tally turned to look at Brad, scared, Brad looked back at her trying to figure out what to do. “It’s probably nothing,” Brad said as he got up and started toward the door, pretending that he wasn’t scared. Tally got up and followed him, hiding behind his shoulder.

The room was filled with tension as they neared the door. Brad looked through the peek hole. He let out a sigh of relief and opened the door to reveal Matt, his long time friend and Maya’s boyfriend.

The tension of the room lifted to a much calmer mood as Matt stepped into the house and everyone relaxed.

Even though she was busy thinking about how relieved she was she did notice as Brad locked the front door before following her back into the family room.

This is just an idea I had (late one night) not something you want to be considering at 2 in the morning. Any way, I don’t know if I am going to continue it so if you have any tips they would be very helpful. : )
